Beginner beginner headphone, any contender to the HD 201?
Hi everyone. Actually helping a friend out with her purchase. She is looking for something that is comfortable and cheap. The best I can think of is the HD 201 where I can get it for $29.99+tax with free shipping from newegg.ca ($19.99 last week so I told her to wait for the sale again). Yes...- JiNuWiNe

Okay, I've been searching for some time now and I have yet to find a clear step by step guide on Grado mods... please help and thank you. So far I did the quarter mod on the stock comply and I'm open to any other mods that will make the SR60 sound better! Thanks!- JiNuWiNe

Help on starting out?! please :)
I recommend starting low and slowly work your way up. I started off with some SONY MDR-150. We're in similar shoes actually, I'm also looking for a pair of portable full size. I've pretty much narrowed my selections down to the Denon D1001 and Audio Technica ATH-M50. They're both closed, around...- JiNuWiNe

Need cheap IEM's for interesting purpose!
I would recommend the PL-30 or PL-50 since they wrap around your ears for a more secure fit. The sound isolation is pretty decent given that you find the right tips.- JiNuWiNe

something similar to the ath-m50's...
Prepare for the Denon D1001 recommendations. I'm in your shoes as well and that seems to be my alternative besides the M50. They just look too bulky/studio type to be worn outside. I'm sure comfort isn't an issue though.- JiNuWiNe

A good headphone for cowon D2
Alright I'm gonna take a crack at this since I have a Cowon D2+. For something portable (I don't like to carry around an amp even at home), I listen to FLACs with my SR60 and so far I'm a very happy man. IMO, I prefer open instead of closed, it just makes the music more live. For $100 closed...- JiNuWiNe

What's your reference material? For me, I try to cover all genres. Do you like vocals? Who are your favourites? Eagles - Hell Freezes Over - Hotel California Live (Acoustic, sound stage) Dire Straits - Dire Straits - Sultan of Swings Guns N' Roses - November Rain Santana -...- JiNuWiNe

Cheapest, bang for buck IEMs
Joker is pretty much spot on with the recommendations. I have both the M9 and PL-30 and I prefer the PL-30 right out the box. (have yet to burn both of them in) I prefer the wider sound stage and clear highs on the PL-30. The M9 has boomy bass but I hope that'll tighten up with some burn...- JiNuWiNe

MEElectronics M9 or Soundmagic P11/12/20?
I have both the M9 and PL-30, guess I'll comment on them. I got the M9 first and the initial impression was very positive. I really like the build quality of the M9, well worth the $25 I spent on them. Good isolation can be achieved with the right pair of tips (I'm using some e2c tips which I...- JiNuWiNe
