That's a pretty good way to simplify the Bimby: "Warm but detailed"

Carolina CanFEST 5 Meet Impressions, Pictures, etc

As one of the much younger guys at the meet, a similar thing happened with older analog sources of music.  The quality of well-made CDs and Vinyl became more apparent than it ever has when I was at the meet.  My parents have TONS of CDs and Vinyls that I'm sure they would love to see get used...

I'll stand firm in that LCD-XC is a much more exciting headphone than the HE-1000; however, the HE-1000s were just indescribably incredulous.   It was awesome to meet everyone and have some great conversations about some quality gear.

Currently gathering my gear.  I should be there tomorrow between 9 and 10.

Is the switching problem one of the Bimby not clicking when sample rates change or one where it clicks too much?  Because I've been listening to some difference sample rate FLAC files via Foobar and the Bimby will only click very rarely even if there are sample rate changes song after song.

God I would love to plug my JBLs into that setup.   What do you guys think about me bringing the 530s to listen to?  Do want to have any speakers or do we want to keep it purely a headphone event?

You can change my Mad Dog Pros to Alpha Dogs as well.  This is lining up to be an incredible CanFest.

The reason I sent it to him is so he would have absolutely no buyers-bias with the Bimby, and I'm glad Zeos didn't fluff up his opinion at all.

    Extremely well-written. +1

I've actually really considered getting a Wyrd to see if it'll fix my issues.  If I had a proper headphone recording rig I would definitely make a video just to show how strange computer noise can really be.

I for sure am getting USB noise because my RGB keyboard makes different electrical noise patterns whenever I change the RGB pattern hahaha; but it's not the Bimby's fault by any means.  I just need to get something to separate my USB power from my motherboard.

Not sure if many of you have heard of it, but Tidal is an incredible lossless streaming service that I've started to prefer over Spotify immensely.  It now competes with Foobar for my listening time on PC.  You can get a free trial too.

I think the word we've been looking for is transparency.     Also, I rather enjoy the Bimby's 15 second startup sequence.  The cycling lights make it have a UFOish effect that I wish I could keep on sometimes.

    NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions

That's a review of the Bimby mate.  And I searched the blog for anything about the Lyr 2 but couldn't find it.   Reposted the link to the Bimby impressions thread though.

This got posted in the Lyr 2 discussion thread I think on accident but I believe it belongs here:   http://digitalaudiodirections.blogspot.com/2016/01/say-hello-to-bimby-aka-schiit-bifrost.html    Lines up pretty well with what we've been saying and offers some comparisons between Schiit's...

Perhaps a large sign could be fashioned in the middle of the room blaring "LOUD ≠ GOOD"? As an extra safety precaution of course

So after nearly a week of intense listening here are my thoughts on the Bimby (Asgard 2 -> Alpha Dog):   -It doesn't "quit" in a similar analogy to planar magnetic drivers.  When there's a lot of things going on, Bimby doesn't have any one particular instrument/voice/etc become overly dominant...

I'll third this notion, especially with the abundance of music festivals in the Southeast.
