Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I would argue that you need not only 2 turntable inputs, but also one for a microphone.

They do indeed make BNC to RCA adapters. I don't have a link to a specific one however. I use the BNC input for my Allo Digione+, which has a BNC output

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

As I seem to have misplaced my original LISST devices for my original Freya, is it safe to use the new LISST on that older model preamp? If so, I will grab a set to have in case my tubes go kaput.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Maggie’s do dip under 4 as well. The Vidars served me well for a few years as long as I wasn’t trying to make rock concert levels. The Tyr is definitely a step up in 4 Ohm power. They drive the 1.7i effortlessly to any level my ears and the speakers can handle.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

They don’t spec it, just like they don’t spec the Vidar 1 that way. I can tell you I ran 2 Vidars into Magnepan 1.7i speakers for a few years with great results. It was only rarely when trying to shake the house down that they would go into protection. Since then I got a pair of Tyr, and moved...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Mine also have slight transformer hum, and I got a couple of the Emotiva CMX-2 line conditioners as suggested here. Didn't make an audible difference, but since I can't hear it when music is playing, or when the furnace is running, I ignore it. There is no audible noise through my 1.7i...

Don’t have the LIM, but I have an OG (Yggy GS) using with Tyrs on some 1.7s and I love the setup.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

With my Vidars I could not hear the mechanical hum from the listening position, only if I put my ear by the amps. With Tyr I can hear it louder. I’ll consider checking on DC issues

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Can say at this point, though Tyr sounds better at volume through the 1.7i than the Vidar, I’m also hearing more hum coming from the amp itself. Not through the speakers, but audible from the amps

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Would be surprising given how much effort has been put forth and how much teasing of it there’s been. I’ve been waiting for it myself, playing stuff through a blu ray player. If it’s not gonna happen, I’ll probably get a Cambridge

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yes, I’d say gain of 2x Vidar and 2x Tyr are similar for me. At lower volume Tyrs are cooler, not surprising given the larger form factor. I look forward to having the house to myself to push them tomorrow

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

So far, great. Been playing them for a few hours of casual listening. They handle the 1.7i at 80 dB with no problem. That’s at 12 o’clock on the Freya S volume knob in 1x active mode, playing some rock/metal like Tool, Meshuggah, Opeth from Roon. I won’t be pushing it harder right now, since...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The Tyrs have been installed in place of the Vidars. I’ll wait a while to push them, but initially, they are running much cooler than Vidars into the Maggies. The particle board rack lives on… just had to add a reinforced shelf for the extra weight.

That may have happened on a pair of used LCD4 (no regrets) a while back, but wasn’t the case here.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I'd like to hear some comparisons between running 2 vidars with magnepans and running 2 tyr. I use 2 vidars this way all the time, and I think they sound great at a reasonable volume. hemming and hawing over what a next upgrade amp might be to have a bit more range without going into protection.

    The Pono Player Impressions Thread

For pure portability, the Pono, balanced to my Amiron Home headphones is difficult to beat for me. Maybe the Poly/Mojo with the RS1x… For at home, I sprung for an Ayre Codex to get the Pono magic with a unit that has USB input. It works great with Roon and there I can tweak EQ digitally how I...

    Schiit Gungnir DAC

Oh, I was thinking of something more akin to Yggy A2, where it was still multibit but improved output stage. My Gungnir was multibit when I got it. Still waiting on sending it in for Unison, as I’m hoping there might be some more options like the less is more, more is less, etc as there are...

I’d say nope. But I guess for minis if you’re using them like computer speakers near field maybe. But I’d still probably go with the Vidar
