Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

The answer is yes. I have a Pulse and it is compatible with both Gui and Core Mode in Windows Server 2012 R2.

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

I have this problem with my Pulse SFi before, and it is not the Pulse's fault. The problem lies on USB streaming mode from your computer to the Pulse. When you plays DSD files, because of high load from CPU to stream DSD signal, it cause pops, clicks even drop outs if your ASIO buffer settings...

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

Hi Larry, I want to ask if there is a solid firmware to play DSD256 in the Geek Pulse. I have very high hope for your PureDSD Mode, and really want to listen to my DSD256 albums on native mode without converting to DSD128 Thanks, Mai

    Schiit Valhalla Tube Rolling thread.

Does anyone have experience with 6N23P Reflektor 1973 tubes? I have a chance to grab them at fair price, so I really need to know how they compare with 1974 or 1975 Reflektor.

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

I think you misunderstanding something. The iDSD nano have 2 mode. When you turn on the iDSD first then connect to the computer via USB, it will use battery power. If you connect iDSD to computer via USB first, then turn on the iDSD, it will use only the power from USB port, not the battery.

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Geek Out 450 is USB powered only. And iDSD nano has both battery powered and USB powered. Geek Out 450 is discontinued now but you can see many of them on sale in For Sale/Trade forums in the last few months (because of the release of Geek Out v2)

Review of Audioquest JitterBug - USB Data & Power Noise Filter.

I have tried the Jitterbug (JB) for 14 days before returned it back. For me, among the 3 USB decraptifier I have used (JB, Regen and Wyrd), it is the one which depends most on system. The problems with JB is that it make the treble duller and enhances mid bass and low mid, in addition, it...

    Intona High Speed USB Isolator

Thanks bimmer100. I have the Uptone Regen with linear power supply, and it works great with my setup. But some people say that the Intona is even better (and provide improvement in some DAC which Regen can't improve), and it does not need external power to function whic is a plus for me. My only...

JRiver Media Center 21 -- Ready To Go

My opinion about Jriver is opposite from yours. I think Jriver is a okay music player with good interface (several ones like Signalyst HQPlayer, Bughead Emperor, JPlaymini, Daphile on linux are better), but in terms of movie I think it is the best, but you need to know how to config.      ...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Yes, I owned both HD598 and iDSD nano at certain time. Moving from Fiio E17 to iDSD nano was an real improvement for me. Both of them (Fiio E17 and iDSD Nano) are warm DAC/Amps but in term of details and dynamics, the iDSD nano is far ahead. The Fiio E17 sound very muddy and congested.   The...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Owned the 598 for more than 1 years, I can say that it scales upto with 200 USD amplifier/DAC. I don't think it's scaling stopped at Fiio E10k or E17. The 598s need something like Magni/Modi combo, iDSD nano, Geek Out 450, ODAC/O2 to show up its full strength.

Best software to rip directly to Flac?

EAC for sure. The error checkers and correction ability of EAC is what foobar, jriver, windows media player lacks. Plus it is free. Dbpoweramp is also another option.

    Intona High Speed USB Isolator

Does anyone try the Intona with Geek Pulse DAC? I am very interested in this little device, but from the records in computeraudiophile, some DACs still need USB hub like the Regen/Wyrd to connect with computer.

JRiver Media Center 21 -- Ready To Go

WAV from what I know can handle 24bit, so if you have Hi-Res Music, it must be on FLAC or WMA lossless, AIFF or ALAC.

What is the best music player (software)?

For my taste, the best music player is Signaylst HQPlayer + Jplay ASIO driver. The details HQPlayer managed to pull out by upsampling (especially to DSD128) is amazing. Comparing to it, Foobar and Jriver seems very veiled and muddy in details. Adding JPlay ASIO driver enhance the background...

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

Seeing too many issues with the Pulse, I am so happy that my Pulse has been working for more than 6 months without any problems.

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

In my expericence with my Pulse Sfi, the LPS helps cleaning up background, expanding soundstage, improving resolution and details in both treble and bass, reducing grain in high mid. I can hear more detail, tight bass with better articulation with LPS but not more amount of bass.

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

Hi WNBC,  Like you, I bought my Pulse SFi from a early backer at crownfunding price. Out of the box, the Pulse is not better than my older setup (iDSD nano + o2 amplifier). After burn in, about 100 hours, it sound better, more open, bass is tighter, but not so much. If you really want to take...
