Well one of the really nice thing about Violectric is that the upgrades can be added later.  I don't have the step attenuator but I do have the remote.  The overall consensus is that the 128 step attenuator is a very slight increase in performance.

Actually my Wadia 321 Sabre based DAC & XMOS USB also plays 176.4 with my MACs without an issue via Amara. So for me neither the Burr Brown Based V850 or the Sabre based Wadia have anny issues with 176.4 files on my MAC via Amara. Both DACs are XMOS USB.
