I'm not really sure. Since this is the only DAP I've owned, I'm not sure what else I would notice in a better player.

I currently have the FIIO X3 (ver 2). Just ordered a set of Shure Aonic 4s and also have an HD300 and BD T90 and a FIIO 5121 amp. Was thinking of upgrading my player but am limited to the stated price range. Will I notice any improvement over the X3 in that range? Thx, Rut

Understood but if I just connect it via the aux in would it actually be sending the music itself (as decoded and processed through the player) and not an actual file?

It uses a simple usb cable to connect the ipod, not a dock. So would a fiio or other similar player not work in this manner? I would like the option of being able to take it with me and listen via headphones when the need arises.
