Schiit we'd like to see
At least give it an ethernet port so we can connect our NAS arrays! Edit: It'd also have the nice side-effect of being able to control it from other devices on the network.- Sillyness

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
That definitely sounds plausible. I've haven't taken a look inside the DT880 yet, but I just opened up my DT770 and the drivers are held in by three plastic clips that are evenly spaced around the circumference of the piece that holds the driver. Beyer then puts a dollop of glue over the...- Sillyness

Just as a possible suggestion. I have my monitors plugged into a powerstrip, which is itself plugged into a power director with switched outlets that sits within arm's reach of my computer chair. In this way, I can leave the sub and monitors switched on on their backs and give them power or...- Sillyness

I've never seen it get any dimmer at any point while it's on. As an aside, I really love the clean, white LEDs that Schiit uses.- Sillyness

I don't know yet. I've only heard the 600 Ohm model so far. There may not be any benefit. I'll do a comparison if I ever get the chance.- Sillyness

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
It was always the plan to get the 600 Ohm model. The original question I had was about Manufaktur and whether there was any substance to posts I had read that seemed to claim Manufaktur 880s sounded best. I determined these posts are most likely from the era when the 600 Ohm model was only...- Sillyness

I was just thinking about popping the stickers back on. After listening further, I feel that I prefer the stock sound to modded for stuff like rock. The DT770 can give me some low-end if the mood strikes.- Sillyness

Build Quality of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro and Quality Control
I'm taking mine apart for the first time in 8 years. I have a slight rattle in the right channel that I believe is attributed to a caught hair. It seems this isn't an uncommon issue, but pretty easy to fix. I don't know how different they are nowadays, but mine have kept me happy this entire...- Sillyness

EDIT: I answered my own question. But, my DT880s came in today! Maybe I'll come back with some first impressions later tonight. EDIT 2: I feel a little speechless about these so far. I honestly can't think of much to say about them yet. I think I need more time with them. I will say...- Sillyness

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
I guess? I get that the bass hump was already pronounced in the K7XX, especially for an AKG. I spent a lot of time attending (and throwing) bass-heavy events when I was younger. I even volunteered at our local DanceSafe chapter for a while. I'm pretty sure that this, combined with a couple...- Sillyness

Just goofin' around, mostly. I did feel a sudden pang of fear that I'd scratch the rings they were protecting once they were off. I'm definitely keeping them around for a while, though. So, last night I also opened them up because I was curious. I mean, everyone said it was reversible...- Sillyness

I'm not sure whether the Magni 2U would count in the category of "well amped" for these, but I have been thoroughly enjoying my K7XX through it and the Modi 2U. Vali as well. Regarding bass, I only have a pair of DT770/80's for comparison. I'd like to say that the K7XX comes close to the...- Sillyness

Both great ideas that I hadn't thought of. Thanks! I was going for two coax inputs connected to a DPDT, but I had selected an ON-ON switch. The idea to use the ON-OFF-ON switch instead is a really good one, for the reason you mentioned. It'll also have three 1/4" jacks so I can quickly...- Sillyness

I really appreciate the input, everyone! Thank you. I think I'll stick with Schiit for now and go with the Valhalla 2. This amp seems to easily fulfill my requirements and (though it matters none at all) I like the aesthetics as well. I also know that I like what I've heard from the Magni...- Sillyness

I realize that this is an old debate and I didn't intend to stir it up in here. I apologize. I only mentioned the impedance because it makes such a big difference when considering the amp question that I had. I fully intend to compare the 880's I get to any others I may get a chance to hear. ...- Sillyness

Good point on this being Head-Fi. Of course there'll be a larger group of people that already have powerful equipment here. I didn't think about that. You also brought up something that I forgot to mention. I will only ever use these at home, sitting at a desk. If I ever take them...- Sillyness

Thanks, pp312! I think the posts I have seen that said as much are from an era when the 600 Ohm 880s were only available through Manufaktur. Thank you for answering this, cbennett0811. I was actually just about to ask about it. The button on my Modi 2U makes what I would call a moderately loud, metallic "clack" sound when I touch it in certain ways. It's definitely not anything that gets in the way of listening. Morning! I'm in the market for a pair of DT880 600's and an amp to drive them and I have a couple quick questions. First, I used to read a lot of posts (maybe around 2004ish?) that claimed that the Manufaktur version of these cans produce superior sound to the other versions. Is this...- Sillyness

No Way to Increase Posts Per Page?
Is there a reason that Head-Fi has disabled this feature? Head-Fi is the only forum that I know of on which one cannot select the number of posts per page. Other Huddler sites have the feature enabled. Huddler must support the feature. If the admin panel is anything like other forum software...- Sillyness
