Compelled to write! Mapleshade Power Strip

I suppose when some say they want the best sound at any cost they really mean it.... I'm cringing thinking about a child/dog/cat getting in to that room.

    Comply Tips Review

Wanted to thank Comply for making a quality product. I recently got a pair of RE-400s and tried 12, TWELVE, different kinds of tips to find some that allowed more ambient noise through so I could use them and still hear my surroundings(safety). None came even remotely close in sound or comfort...

Wanna climb the ladder from HE-400/iFi Stack

When I was searching for my current portable pairing I used the summer 2014 buying guide. If you'll take some time to read how the sound character of the products are described you may find what suits you best. http://www.head-fi.org/a/head-fi-buying-guide-introduction

    FiiO e12 Mont Blanc

I'm sorry to hear you've lost your 801. I've been using the E12 for about a month now with different sources, iPod, iPhone, portable CD player, and haven't experienced a device dying. I know it's anecdotal but wanted to share. Do you have a multimeter? Maybe check the input jack for strange...

    Introduction and Request of Assistance

Now that you have 2000 CDs when are you going to sit down and rip every last one to FLAC?  If you start now you might be finished before the second coming!  I have a few hundred but they are still in storage at my parent's house. If I ever get a job closer to home I'll spend some time ripping...

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

That was the comment that gave me hope for the service. It makes sense since a vetting process that has integrity and wins the trust of consumers is the only differentiator from other hd music services. If they have a guy listening to and vetting all the music that is a valid excuse for charging...

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

Have a look through your comments in this thread. Intentionally confrontational, dismissive, and rude are ways I'd describe the tone. I'm not going to get in to who is correct as to the content of the arguments but I'd imagine someone who thinks themself superior and intelligent would be capable...

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

Thank you for linking it. They did mention that they would be vetting the recordings submitted by the record companies and rejecting up sampled tracks. I'm hopeful... If it starts to look any better I'm going to die inside for not getting in on the kickstarter.

    The Power of the iPod?

OP if you'd like to have a touch OS, the first gen iPod touch has a Wolfson DAC.

    Cowon Plenue P1

$1200...dang. I knew it would be up there with the built in 128gb of storage. Guess I'll be using my old iPod touch for a bit longer. At least it has a Wolfson DAC.

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

From these and other comments it seems that the real opportunity for the Pono service is providing higher quality music with full transparency about the origin of the remastered track.

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

Nice points on current profitability of music for the artists. As for Napster as Lar's boogeyman I see two culprits. Now before you read what I'm about to say I want to preface it by saying I am now an adult, a generous(forcibly) tax contributor, and contrary to how my tone may sound below I'm...

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)

Thank you for the welcome.  I knew it was time to strike when the E17 came available for $90.  Only issue now is the iPod touch is only 32gb and flac tracks fill it up FAST!   It was a tough decision on the RE-400s since I really wanted cable controls and a mic but after listening to them I...

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)

Before I joined the forums I spent a couple months reading all the reviews and advice thread from 2013-2014. Below is what I use while traveling for work. It is the best I can do on my budget but I'm satisfied none the less. http://imgur.com/cBOFJoK

    Introduction and Request of Assistance

In my work I travel over a 3 state area and there are stores that sell used CDs at very low costs(No surprise to most). Pawn shops can also be a source of used CDs at even cheaper prices. Once brought home and ripped to FLAC they sound great on my monitors. To save cash you may enjoy doing this...
