I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

Well, I do encourage you to seek out others' opinions as well. Mine may as well be considered uninformed, as i have experience with few headphones. I would not call the brightness "harsh". I have listened to pieces for more than 30 minutes. (Magnificat, St. Matthew Passion, Opus Musicum...

I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

I was hesitant to reply because I don't have a vast experience with headphones. In my opinion, they are slightly bright. They rarely feel aggressive to me. If I listen to music with lots of highs, like organ music, for 30-45 min I tend to feel fatigued. If I listen to music with more mids, like...

I agree. I don't hate those who recommend it though. They are just jumping on this because they know it's a good recommendation that will reach many people. It is a brief surge in popularity. It will pass. I'm curious: what music are they best for?

The engine will overpower your music for sure! I wear closed headphones on the bus w/decent isolation and the sound still gets a quite drowned out.

Quote: If you want something "more exciting than most regular classical" you just need to find the right conductors. At least that's my experience. For example. If you want to listen to Bach, I recommend Karl Richter, Trevor Pinnock, Jordi Savall, or Glenn Gould. Now that I think about...

I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

As a user of the DT 660, I would love to try the T1! Basically the consensus about the T1 is that it has nearly no coloration. Some people think it is boring because of that, but for acoustic music that should be perfect.

I saw the monster DNA pro. The triangular design is quite weird. Also, there is a person who rides the same bus as me who wears the Audio Technica ATH-EQ300M. I hear they are a pretty good bang for the buck even though I hear about the Koss KSC 75 much more often.

Yes. This thread is dedicated to headphones, therefore there are many people here who know about headphones. No one on this thread said that everyone else is stupid because he does not know what we know.

The Ugliest Headphones You Have Ever Seen.

I agree. These are not even headphones. They're some kind of shoulder-speaker-system.

    The Ugliest headphones ever.

Maybe. I think they look cool in a totally weird way. I don't think they look ugly, not like the DT 48e.

Help! Looking for over ear recommendatons for under $150

I don't have too much listening experience, but we both listen to acoustic music! : D   I use the Beyerdynamic DT 660. Often it is sold at a price around $150.00 (on amazon) even though retail is actually $250.00. I listen to baroque, renaissance, and classical music. I am very pleased with...

I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

I think that compared to the 660, the bass is too forward. I have not listened to them much, though. They do have the advantage of being portable.   In the portable headphones market, I think the Martin Logan Mikros 90 are worth a try if you enjoy the DT 660. I got them when they were on sale...

Has anyone used the Soundmagic HP 200? I wonder how that compares.

We could digress to other good reference headphones to continue the thread, but I thought this is a DT 660 appreciation thread.

I agree. High end audio is just not as popular of an interest. Televisions seem better marketed than high end headphones and speakers. My dad, before he listened to my Beyerdynamic DT 660, believed that his Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones really have a high end sound. He was pretty impressed with...

Me neither. If someone drops a pile of money on my head, I'll buy the DT 440 and DT 860 and do a review of all three comparing them.

Just recently repurchased my DT 660s. Here is to hoping they don't break again.

I have never used it with an amplifier, but it plays at a pretty hefty volume and clarity right out of a mobile phone or soundcard. They are definitely efficient enough for the approximately $150 price tag you find on amazon.

I have seen the Parrot Zik being used in my school. It is the only time I have seen it in person. The guy wearing them was studying, and I did not see it fit to strike up a conversation.

Has anyone here used both the DT 860 and the DT 660? I have read that the DT 860 is like the DT 660, but with a few sonic improvements.

Best open 'overear' headphone (nevermind the price)

I very much enjoy harpsichord music! So I will take note of that.

I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

Just thought I'd post an update to this thread. I have had these for a few months now. I love the sound, but they broke on me. I thought the build quality was good, but they broke through normal use. I don't think anything I've ever done with them that was beyond what they're designed for...

Which headphones look the most expensive to you (Regardless of price)?

The Sennheiser HD 600/650 does not look like a premium headphone. They are made almost entirely of plastic that does not scream "high end" to me. I know this is kind of the flip-side of the question, but this is what came to mind.

I have a question about purchasing this. If you buy the version for $209.00 from the maverick audio website, will it still come with a tube?
