    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

Maybe my ears are bad because I never get this feeling when listening to em. I listen to em through a Fiio E17 and they do sound very good, they just never confuse me for speakers or make me think the sound is coming from infront of me.

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

MA900 is great for movies but really only shines if you pair it with like an astro mixamp or some other decent surround sound processor at least in my opinion.

Bose Sues Beats for Patent Infringement

Ya I agree. Also it is quite hard to fight Apple and it seems they are paying off the government too. I remember one of the suits between Samsung vs Apple was going on and Samsung actually won the suit but Obama overruled Apple's punishment.

(It Seems That) The iPhone 6 Will Have A Headphone Jack

But they would have to include the adapter with the phone or all but the most loyal apple fans will move to android. Even then I don't think people would like to have an adapter sticking out of their phone to plus in their headphones.    I guess it could be profitable selling adapters to...

(It Seems That) The iPhone 6 Will Have A Headphone Jack

This + the fact that most consumers aren't audiophiles so wouldn't even know one smartphone has a better DAC then another, all they would know is that the iPhone doesn't have a proper headphone jack and the other smartphones do.

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

They leak a ton since they are very open headphones but it's nowhere near as bad as speakers. As long as your in your room alone with the door closed I highly doubt you will wake anyone in your family.   The contact with your ears depends on your ear size and where they are positioned on...

    Sony MDR-MA900 VS HiFiman HE-400

I'm interesting in this comparison also. I have the MA900.

    Open-Back headphones with bass

A less muddy ATH-M50 bass. I guess by thick I just mean more low end rumble and probably a little slower decay. I like the MA900 bass but I prefer something that will rumble a little bit, not necessarily just hit hard and disappear. I don't want the bass to be poor quality though because I like...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

I think it's just the fact that I went from an open back headphone known for sub-bass roll off to a closed back known for emphasized sub-bass.   I'm using a Fiio E17 which is said to be a good pairing for the MA900. I am just desiring the MA900 sound with a bit of sub-bass rumble.

    Open-Back headphones with bass

It's not just really impact I'm looking for, I'm wondering if any of the mid-fi open backs have a thick bass. After some listening it seems I like a thicker sound rather then an airy one. I do enjoy the large soundstage and the wonderful midrange of the MA900 however.   The Hifiman HE-400 does...

    Open-Back headphones with bass

Are there any open back headphones at an affordable price point (not LCD-2) that have a thick bass? I have the ATH-M50 and the Sony MA900 and the MA900 have a nice punch but I can clearly tell when going back to the ATH-M50 that the MA900 bass is just that, punch. There's no body to it, just a...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

Got my ATH-M50 back today and I do enjoy the change. That sub-bass is addictive and the Sony MA900 has no weight or body in the bass in comparison, it just has a nice punch.

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

So basically, I won't be able to tell a difference unless I know what differences there could be and what differences to listen for?

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Seems to me that people are fooled by Marketing, advertising, and claims of the companies making this stuff. I am not experienced in any of this so I know I don't have much credit for what I say but the only thing that really makes a difference for me is the headphones themselves. I did AB...

YOUR IDEAL HEADPHONE: What is yours if you could take one and tailor it to you?

Thanks, idk about AKG. I just know the Shure 1540 and 1840 fit and I believe the Beyer DT 880 fits but not perfectly.   Mad Lust Envy might know.

    Where to find modders?

I am not currently looking to have any mods done because I cannot afford it but thinking about it in the future for my Sony MA900. I am thinking about (in the future) getting a detachable cable mod. I am just wondering, when I have the money to do that, is there a place on the forums I could...

YOUR IDEAL HEADPHONE: What is yours if you could take one and tailor it to you?

Well I have no experience in DIY nor do I trust myself trying any of that as I know I would end up doing more harm then good.   I could probably pay someone to do a detachable cable mod and could probably then buy a more durable cable. Also, some of the velour Shure pads fit on the MA900 but...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

My only real complaint with the MA900s is the cable. It's not detachable and I am afraid it isn't gonna last me too long. It's got minor bite marks from like the 2nd day I even had the headphones because the cats were trying to get the cable when I let my sister listen to them.

YOUR IDEAL HEADPHONE: What is yours if you could take one and tailor it to you?

Sony MDR-MA900 1. Thicker earpads of velour material 2. Detachable cable 3. Thicker more durable stock cable 4, Deeper bass extension, but rest of sound the same 5. Everything else the same   Great for any genre, especially acoustic and orchestral music.

in the market for new headphones

I would definately get the LP2 over the Mixr headphones. They are both stylish and very portable. I know the Beats Mixr has excellent isolation due to it's high clamping force which is good and bad because you don't want headphones that will end up hurting your head. I'm not sure about the...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

That's awesome Kstuart. I'm glad I picked a headphone that can compare so well with higher priced headphones. I think a headphone can only be as good as the recording and when the recording is good, the MA900 sounds damn good.

    AKG Q701 vs Beyerdynamic DT880

I just want to say that I do notice a difference between the two headphones, that part I definately do. I like both headphones and the Sony MA900 is definitely a very nice pair. I absolutely love the vocals on the MA900, nothing short of stunning to me. What I am trying to say is that it's not...
