Nice pics, would you mind telling us a bit about how each of your mods altered the sound? Cheers

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

You should definitely try modding the mk2. The mids are naturally very forward on that particular model with mods just adding your desired level of bass and treble. The end results are auperb especially when you factor in the total cost.

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

Inertianinja spoke about owning both these headphones a couple of pages back and might have something to say. From memory (which is fairly unreliable) I think the X2 was a little bit warmer with better bass extension but less detail retrieval at the top end. I think the mids may also have been...

AKG K845BT First Impressions & Early Review (+ The Headphone Bar)

Maybe I listen to these way too loud when out and about but I don't experience that problem I'm afraid. If the treble is beginning to irritate you it sounds like you already have them way up. Just looking at mine now with some pleather hm5 pads next to them they look like they would be a poor...

Beyerdynamic T1/T5p Modifications and Tweaks Thread

Thanks once again for your advice. The headphones are long out of warranty now and I think they would probably just tell me to send them for an expensive service or driver replacement although I guess I'll never know unless I try. Thanks for the video link, it is indeed very useful, a shame...

Beyerdynamic T1/T5p Modifications and Tweaks Thread

Thanks for the reply but I don't think I have explained myself properly. The vibration in my dt770 was not due to a dodgy connection or broken wire but a physical vibration which was caused by the plastic sleeve of the wire touching the back of the driver housing itself. Once the wires were...

Beyerdynamic T1/T5p Modifications and Tweaks Thread

Hi everyone, I know this is probably the wrong thread for advice on problems with the T1 v1 but as modders you all have a wealth of technical knowledge about the t1 which might make you able to help me out. Long story short I have a buzz coming from the right driver of my t1's only noticeable...

    UE 900 mods

I had a bit of a poke at mine but even a needle wasn't thin enough to fit in the hole. I believe at the time someone recommended stripping a wire and using a single strand of copper but I never got around to it in the end. I have had some pretty positive results by varying sources and even...

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

Play something with good instrument separation and a reasonably wide soundstage and you'll appreciate the difference the velours make. I do agree though that the sound is still in need of modification to perfect it.

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

They are a bit daunting at first but trust me, once you get the technique you'll have them on in minutes. First extend the earcup on which you are fitting the pad all the way down with the other as far up as it will go. Then fit the top section of the pad (without the seam) loosely over the top...

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

Definitely, if you look at the changes they have made they're all found in the mk2 modification thread. Just a shame they didn't experiment with deeper pads as well in my opinion. I've fitted the hm5 velours and that has increased the width of the soundstage considerably but ultimately I would...

Really wanted to crack on with the mods on these over Christmas but have got a lousy ear infection and everything sounds bad

I use the Modi/Vali and that sounds pretty good. The fiio e18 also pumps out enough juice for on the go listening of anyone's thinking of taking these outdoors.

I don't have any experience with live monitoring situations using these headphones but would say that my experience with the t50's is that they don't isolate very well which, depending how noisy the environment is, would be a major factor to consider.

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

I have this same query because I'm using the angled velour hm5 pads and assumed they would angle the driver towards the ear canal. However, when used with the wider edge at the back they actually push the rear of the cups out which angles the drivers away from your ear canals. I had a similar...

Huge Comparison of [almost] all the Best Bluetooth Headphones - post your own comparisons here

I loved the sound of the UE9000 as well but had to let then go because they were so damn big on my head. However, they were quite easy to repair (I think there are pictures of my repaired set in the UE9000 thread) Just take a strip of bendable metal (I used Aluminium) tape it over the crack in...

Well the angled velours arrived today finally! Took quite a bit of effort to get them on mk3 style but got there in the end. First impressions are that they have widened the soundstage nicely as expected. Comfort has drastically inproved as well of course. The sound has not been massively...

I've just listed mine in gunmetal grey in the classifieds. Its not that I dont like them it's just that they were an impulse purchase which was unwise this close to Xmas. Will definitely buy again in the new year and try some XL pads on them!

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Just received them and had a listen, first impressions pretty good. Just one thing that's confused me slightly. When looking at the drivers they appear to be at the front of the cup angled away from the ear canal. Previous headphones that I have owned with angled drivers have placed the drivers...

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

I know exactly what you mean. Ive been considering trying to swap out the headband for a mk2 Headband which I will cushion with pads for the HD600. I just can't get used to the flatter curve of the mk3 headband and although comfortable, I don't like the white Fostex writing on top. I'm not sure...
