Two levels. USB powered dacs, and externally powered dacs. USB powered is ~$200USD for assembled ~$100 DIY is about as good as it gets.    Powered DACs are better. Supposedly. More expensive, spend 2 to 3 times.

You have hybrids. They can both expensive.    An OTL uses tubes for both power and amplification. A perfect example is the DV336se or the bottlehead crack. A hybrid uses a tube as a preamp to "color" the sound, but uses a solid state amplification signal.    The technical details can be read...

Made my HE-500s some "laying in bed" to use my e7. REDCO Mogami W2397 knockoff, black paracord. Amphenol 3.5mm and Hifiman connectors
