The Price of DACs
Two levels. USB powered dacs, and externally powered dacs. USB powered is ~$200USD for assembled ~$100 DIY is about as good as it gets. Powered DACs are better. Supposedly. More expensive, spend 2 to 3 times.- mvrk10256

Head-fi Austin - January 18 2014
Looks Like I should be around. Not sure on bringing gear. How does it work? I dont mind other people sampling, but I would want to walk around and talk to people but not necessarily leave gear unattended.- mvrk10256

Sennheiser HD600/650 vs HiFiMan HE400
Its kind of a loaded question. Lets compare amps specifically. Since Schiit sells all 3 we will compare those. The Asgard is a purely solid state amp. This means it strives to simply amplify the signal it gets in as cleanly as possible with minimum distortion. It has lots of power, can...- mvrk10256

Sennheiser HD600/650 vs HiFiMan HE400
You have hybrids. They can both expensive. An OTL uses tubes for both power and amplification. A perfect example is the DV336se or the bottlehead crack. A hybrid uses a tube as a preamp to "color" the sound, but uses a solid state amplification signal. The technical details can be read...- mvrk10256

I used modeling clay, felt, and some dynomat type material. Very similar to what I did with my T50rp. Basically bumped the bass, and seemed to tighten it up a little. They are bass heavy, but my cousin will love them as he listens to bass heavy music, and watches action movies (explosions and...- mvrk10256

V Moda Crossfade M100, Mad dog. alpha dog or hifiman he-400 for endgame?
These things do not compare. Having an e17 as your main amp limits you some, and listening to youtube source stuff is not always great. The Alpha dogs are a top tier planar magnetic. Competition would be HE-500, Fostex TH600/900, and so on. The Mad Dogs are just modified T50RPs. Great...- mvrk10256
