    JVC SU-AX7 - new portable headphone amp/dac

Plugging in the amp enables what JVC calls "high intensity mode" (indicated by the blue light), which supplies more power to headphones and earphones, and it still continues to charge. Basically, it was designed to be used while plugged in. So you'll get fantastic sound if you have a dual 3.5mm...

Seems they’re still available in Japan.

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

I recommend you get a balanced (4.4mm) cable for them; the one I’m currently using is Sony’s MUC-M12SB1, which can be a little challenging to find. The openness of the 10k was spooky when I first heard it. But even spookier than that is the sheer clarity and ambience of the soundstage. All...

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

The sound I’ve getting lately from these is very cohesive and “‘musical”. Lush vocals, depth, instrument placement — a presentation that just puts you “there” in the music. Just a pure pleasure to listen to. EDIT: I will say this is where these hit a turning point for me: the sound of...

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

I'm currently listening to some ripped music, and... Let's just say I'm hearing a BIG difference between Lossless and 256kps streaming. I wasn't a believer before, but now I am.

The Comply 400 Series might be the solution. The Spiral Dot SF series might also be worth a look.

    My JVC-branded FW10000 retailed for $100 more.

I'd consider it if I didn't already own 3 earphones (IE 800S, XBA-N3, FW10000). The Astell & Kern Pathfinder and IER-Z1R looks more interesting to me though they aren't single-drivers.

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

Yup. I bought the Sonys as a replacement after my Orb Celestial Force cable got damaged on one side. The FW10000 sounds more “musical” or “alive” to my ears with the Sonys, especially when it comes to consistent bass response. EDIT. I’m gonna go ahead and say that these are leaps and bounds...

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

Right now I'm listening to my FW10000 with Sony's MUC-M12SB1 cable for a few minutes before going to bed. I originally bought this cable for my XBA-N3, but I might end buying a second pair... The coherency is very good.

The only thing I’ve ever used is the Walkman NW-WM1A because of the 4.4mm port. I listen to most of my music via Bluetooth on my iPhone. IMO the ifi audio hip dac is worth a try. It will definitely work out cheaper than a standalone player.

What happened when you clicked on it? IIRC the CL2 was discontinued. RHA only sells bluetooth headphones now.

JVC HA-FW01 - The New Top End Wood Driver IEM (2017)

The Sonys will be more to your liking then. They are “wear-down” style with no hangers or memory wire.

JVC HA-FW01 - The New Top End Wood Driver IEM (2017)

I gave mine to my brother, and I don’t know where to find a replacement. I can recommend Sony’s 3.5mm cable that comes with models like the XBA-N3. Search for: Sony headphone Cable MUC-M12SM2. You can find it on EBay, Amazon Japan, Kakaku etc. but the prices sometimes go above $100.

JVC HA-FW01 - The New Top End Wood Driver IEM (2017)

He has the 1800 not the FW10000. The two have the same driver but aren’t marketed as having the exact same sound presentation.

JVC HA-FW01 - The New Top End Wood Driver IEM (2017)

The 1800 is a departure from the comparatively bassier sound of the FW01 and the 1100 before that. The bass presentation is clean and highly articulate but does not have a lot of pressure. It takes some getting used to. I reckon they’ll sound their best with a balanced cable.

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

As of today, my new FW10000 has finally turned the corner on bass. It’s weightier than it was out of the box, and more articulate.

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

Sound wise it’s an improvement over the 3.5mm stock cable, which IMO is already hard to beat. The FW10000’s presentation is close to flawless for me. Big, wide, realistic, extremely detailed, and somehow still soft to the ears. Studio recordings sound like performances. Microphonics is minor but...

The FW10000 with the new spiral dot tips (medium) and an ORB Celestial Force C4 MMCX 4.4mm cable. This cable turned out to be a lot softer than it looked in photos. They come with ear hangers, but I don't even need them. My previous cable was the Alo Audio Super Litz, which was a little stiffer...

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

They arrived today. I have to say... Even unbalanced and straight out of the iPhone 12 Pro, I prefer these over my other two earphones — the Sennheiser IE800 S and JVC FW01. Even fresh out the box, they're close to what I was listening to just days ago. Some thoughts 8/1/2021: unbalanced (stock...

I’m not in Asia, so I reached out to JVC USA via their website, provided them with my serial number, and offered to pay for out-of-warranty service. The system said that they’ll reply in 3 business days, which is some time next week. This morning I tried listening to the FW01 and well, the...

    Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

Well gang, it finally happened. I had the unfortunate experience of damaging the socket on the left side of my pair when trying swap the cable. Instead of the cable dislodging, the mmcx female part came out with the cable. I tried glueing it back to the earpiece, but no sound so far. I’ll wait...
