Right now I'm listening to my FW10000 with Sony's MUC-M12SB1 cable for a few minutes before going to bed. I originally bought this cable for my XBA-N3, but I might end buying a second pair... The coherency is very good.

The only thing I’ve ever used is the Walkman NW-WM1A because of the 4.4mm port. I listen to most of my music via Bluetooth on my iPhone. IMO the ifi audio hip dac is worth a try. It will definitely work out cheaper than a standalone player.

What happened when you clicked on it? IIRC the CL2 was discontinued. RHA only sells bluetooth headphones now.

The Sonys will be more to your liking then. They are “wear-down” style with no hangers or memory wire.

I gave mine to my brother, and I don’t know where to find a replacement. I can recommend Sony’s 3.5mm cable that comes with models like the XBA-N3. Search for: Sony headphone Cable MUC-M12SM2. You can find it on EBay, Amazon Japan, Kakaku etc. but the prices sometimes go above $100.

He has the 1800 not the FW10000. The two have the same driver but aren’t marketed as having the exact same sound presentation.

The 1800 is a departure from the comparatively bassier sound of the FW01 and the 1100 before that. The bass presentation is clean and highly articulate but does not have a lot of pressure. It takes some getting used to. I reckon they’ll sound their best with a balanced cable.

As of today, my new FW10000 has finally turned the corner on bass. It’s weightier than it was out of the box, and more articulate.

Sound wise it’s an improvement over the 3.5mm stock cable, which IMO is already hard to beat. The FW10000’s presentation is close to flawless for me.
