Need Help choosing a DAP in the $100-250 range.

If the UI on the X1 is decent I'll agree, so that's probably the avenue I'll pursue. Yeah the reason I like rockbox is because it lets my potato Clip+ run smoother. I still like the ruggedness of the DX50 (if it is indeed as rugged as it looks) even if it is twice as expensive. But the Fiio...

Need Help choosing a DAP in the $100-250 range.

Hello HF,   So with the holiday's coming, I've been given the question on what I want from my parents, and I was thinking "hmm, why not replace my clip+." I pretty fed up with the thing hanging and crashing, constantly refreshing media, and the like. My Father was thinking about buying me the...

Is a Sansa Clip+ plugged into decent speakers a good bedroom setup?

I use the Clip+. For the record, if you don't already have one, and the color you want (if that matters to you) is more expensive than the other colors on Amazon. Call Amazon and you can be credited for the difference. I hope this helps :)

Is a Sansa Clip+ plugged into decent speakers a good bedroom setup?

Install rockbox firmware on it. It'll take up to 128gb supposedly after that point. Makes the thing load 2x faster. And has much more bells and whistles than the Sansa firmware, and from my experiences less hanging up and freezes. Here's the rockbox sansa zip pages.   If the installer doesn't...

Is a Sansa Clip+ plugged into decent speakers a good bedroom setup?

I do it every day. It sounds by and large better than laptop speakers and a laptop as a source, so I would say that its perfectly fine. Marvin Gaye is going to sound like Marvin Gaye when it comes time for the "other activities." It'll sound fine.

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread

So I got my current VMODA M80 Interconnect cable and my Triple Fi 10s from a buddy, starting my audiophilic journey. I've just now become interested in making my own. I have what I believe a silver dual twisted pair for my Triple Fi 10s. My question is, they are in a very small plastic tubing...

    A Newbie's Roll-Up Q & A about DIY Cabling.

I think you guys helped me with my decision. I need the flexibility so I'll most definitely strip all the wires and braid them. I'm more worries about the danged thing staying plugged in while in jeans, and a a right angle 3.5mm to another right angle is just too much width. Especially with the...

    A Newbie's Roll-Up Q & A about DIY Cabling.

My intentions are essentially to make a small 6 inch interconnect with one right angle 3.5mm and a straight 3.5mm. Its just to go between my MotoX or my Sansa Clip to my Ibasso DAC. I'm not sure whether I'd braid it or not. A couple resultant questions I had are:   1) It sounds like a stupid...

    A Newbie's Roll-Up Q & A about DIY Cabling.

Hi HF, I have come upon a need of variable length cables, and I decided soldering would be a good skill to master. So I break this down into a bullet list of all the questions I have about DIY cables that I haven't already found out through the DIY Article. So I would appreciate it if anyone...

Missing Pics in the "How to make a interconnect Step by Step With Pics"

I had feared that it was a third party issue, I should have known that it was third party picture hosting. I hadn't intended on using this thread to garner actual advice on the topic, simply ask about the pictures but since you offered :   I have been looking online for a 3-4 inch 3.5mm cable...

Missing Pics in the "How to make a interconnect Step by Step With Pics"

Firstly, the thread in question is this. Secondly, I realize the post is rather antiquated but I was hoping since the site was switched to new server on Aug. 19 that there would possibly be backups of the thread. I realize there are newer threads regarding this, but I like the layout and the...

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

Well I'll be probably grabbing the Magni first and running it through my brand new shiny Asus Xonar card. But after that if I'm still itching I'll get the modi and complete the sexy little set of schiit :P   Thanks for the input man. Hissing scares me, I don't want to go the inferior setup.

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

I fully plan on getting getting the magni soon, but I suppose having the optical out on the DG wouldn't be bad. Sadly the rebate is over, so I can't get the ten bucks off (oh dear). I'm still picking up the DG and it'll be here by Wednesday, after I install it I'll be sure to post my thoughts...

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

My mistake! I wrote the "little info about me" thing last night and the second part today. No sir, I would be playing the games that release with them on PC. It just happens to coincide with next gen launch. That's my bad broski.    Anyway, you're right. Its better to have that Asus then not...

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

Oh I agree heartily with the sound card. I have just been putting it off till I could decide which. The DG seems like a good solution. Not to disagree with you but I never mentioned any sort of console gaming. I play my Wii U for Zelda and that's about it. Everything else is "PC master race,"...

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

What is funny is that I already have the Sansa Clip Zip (In lime green no less.) Do you think the fiio 3X will have better DAC/Amp capabilities than my Zip? If not I can say whatever and forget about the player and just worry about my other two issues.   But I think you have missed part of my...

Help choosing between Fiio X3, an Asus Xonar Sound Card + Desktop Amp, and the Schiit Mobi/Magni Combo.

Before I start, I want you to know that all of my knowledge on these devices are from internet research, mostly on this site. So please do correct me if anything I presume, assume, or otherwise is false. I'm here to learn. I've only been at this for about 6 months.   Alright people. I have...

Help choosing a semi-portable Dac/Amp for an older Coax spdif cd player.

Sadly I realize this. Rigs are simply a combination of parts, sub-standard tech will drag everything else down. I'm not necessarily looking for THE cheapest thing that I can get. I was actually looking at getting the Magni and Mobi Dac/Amp combo from Schiit to use for my pc and the cd player. I...

Help choosing a semi-portable Dac/Amp for an older Coax spdif cd player.

That is an excellent idea. Well now I have 2 things I need to get :P Alright lets switch gears a bit. Lets remove the semi portability and just say I want a desktop amp that'll be somewhat rugged, and still won't exceed the dimensions of the external cd player. The CD player is more the novelty...
