Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
A real experience is building one of Nelson Pass's first watt amps. I built the F6. Beautiful sound. Plans and parts can be found at DIY audio. Still love the vintage stuff though. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/- SpeakerBox

Ya, not all HPs sound good on the jack - for instance I run my HD600s off the speaker taps on the HK.- SpeakerBox

AMP for He400se
Vintage receivers are great because they have power to spare for these power hungry beasts. The headphone jack is driven from the main amp via a dropping resistor. I drive mine with a restored HK330A - the sound is fantastic.- SpeakerBox

Good stuff that Sansui gear, of the three vintage units I have, my restored Fisher 400 receiver has the best sound of the bunch. Like it better than my HK330A and Pioneer SX-1250, although they are no slouches either. Happy listening.- SpeakerBox

Like @Monsterzero said, if the tech was good you should be too. If the pots get scratchy DeoxIt is your friend. There is a DeoxIt howto over on audiokarma.org and should be able to do it yourself.- SpeakerBox

I would also judge the 2230 to be on the warmer side of neutral, where as my Pioneer SX-1250 on the brighter side. Both are great.- SpeakerBox

I use abcde all the time to RIP my CDs to FLAC. I've done hundreds of them with no issues on Fedora 37. I also use Audacity to RIP my LPs to FLAC. 24/96 Usually and they come out great!- SpeakerBox
