Tubes color the sound enough said.

Personal experience has told me that they have horrible reliability. Took back mine 4 times for the left driver going out over a period of a year and once for a cracked cup. They never left my room and would rest in their case when not in use. Would baby the hell out of the cans just like I do...

This is awful, it makes sense why I had to replace the left driver on my LCD-2 four times. I babied the heck out of them and they would always go out on me ~4-5 months after getting them back. 

I ended up getting JBL 305 + lexicon alpha based on what people over at AVS suggested. The total price was 304 so I went a little out of budget. I am liking it a lot thus far and I'll get a subby sometime next year.

I have 800 dollars to spend on a new amp/dac combo for my LCD-2 rev 2 Fazor. My only stipulation is that I don't want a tube amp. I can wait a couple more months and get a Conductor but that might be a little more than I am wanting to spend on an amp/dac. Thoughts?

After about 5-6 hours, I can hear more soundstage, a somewhat more neutral sound, and pretty much the same everything else. The warm mids are somewhat gone in favor of a more neutral sound. Also, they are little less bassy than before but its not that noticeable unless I play a song like Koan...
