    Sony MDR-7520

My 7520's are still going strong after all these years. Great build. No real signs of wear :) I'm using them with Sonarworks these days and have learned that it is quite necessary for getting a neutral presentation.

Thanks a lot, winwizard! Do you know if it can be ordered with a braided cloth sleeve?

And Mike, sorry for not following up with eq-curve examples. I just haven't had proper time to pick "safe" examples.

Haha! Well, yes you're lucky. Mine has started to creak but nothing I worry about. I can't chew while mixing on headphones (no matter if they creak or not), because chewing distracts from the task. I chew in the pauses.

Mike, maybe you never eat while wearing the 7520?

The problem is finding a suitable snippet that I'm allowed to post. It would be easy if I could just post some Biffy Clyro or Foo Fighters to hurt your ears with :)   Hmm, I just found out that I'm not allowed to post attachments here. I click "Insert Attachment" and the forum greets me with...

I thought I should confirm that this Latex tube modification is working very well for me. At the time I posted the pics, I hadn't used the mod for more than 30 minutes or so. Now, a week later, I have done mixing work for many many hours like this, and the mod is still good. I don't find the...

Here's the story: I don't have tubes to send to you guys. I didn't buy it either. I don't know the exact model, but the colour surely will tell. While moving some boxes, I spotted a 1 meter green Latex-looking tube in one of the boxes belonging to my girlfriend. I tried fitting it inside the...

jsblack's profile no longer works here after upgrading my Sonarworks Reference 3 headphone plug-in to version v3.1.6.25 AAX for Windows. Could that be a bug or intentional?   http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a294/hjorte/sw7520error_zps2bsvef0n.gif~original

@RudeWolf, thanks! Yes, I agree, the best would be to get a specific calibration for your own pair of headphones. But if jsblack will share his calibration, I think you just made another sale on your Headphone Calibration Plugin.   Will you be listing the Sony 7520 under your supported...

    Sony MDR-7520

Much appreciated, @jsblack. I wasn't asking you to hand over your calibration file just like that :-) It was more a theoretical question if these files are interchangeable / shareable in a technical sense. I guess they are. Exited to hear what their answer is.

@jsblack, thanks a lot. I wonder if Sonarworks will now use your 7520 profile under Supported Headphones. The 7520 is not on the list yet. Can you actually share your profile for others to use in Sonarworks Headphone Calibration?

    Sony MDR-7520

Tyll's listening impression of our beloved 7520 is quite a contrast to what's been reported in this thread:   Sony MDR-7520 - Oh bummer. This was a much anticipated measurement for me as it's got a bit of a following out there and people keep asking for a measurement. It had no sense of sub...

    Sony MDR-7520

That would be brilliant. Imagine having support for the Sony 7520 in something like the Sonarworks headphone calibration software by providing them with measurements of the 7520... I was asked by Sonarworks to send in my 7520 for measurement so they could get a profile and support the...

Cable request! Can anyone link me to a good replacement cable to use with the 7520? I need a flexible, straight and light cable, fabric/cloth braided, 2 x mini stereo jack. I've searched a bit but I'm hoping you have some good recommendations. Please :)

They were pulled from the European market due to being too efficient. The Sound Pressure Level they can obtain for a given input is too high.   Some data for 7520: Power rating: 4W Maximum obtainable SPL: 144dB Power needed for reaching 120dB: 20mW Voltage needed for reaching 120dB...

43dB that's pretty impressive. Thanks for the tip. $299 hmm, a little steep for me, but..

I need maximum attenuation from outside noise - help me find the best monitors.

Help me find some monitors, preferably In-Ear, with the best sound isolation possible. On top of the In-Ear monitors, I will use the best earmuffs I can find. I have zero experience with In-Ear monitors, but I think they are the best solution for this, right? They don't have to be top class HiFi...
