Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Nice Wizard is back!! I was sad to find out he was no longer with Heir Audio. I had thought about getting my 4.Ai's remolded into a custom and would rather have the wizard behind that. I wonder if they would work on a pair of 4.Ai's if they were purchased while the Wizard was still with them...

Those cants look amazing! Why couldn't they come standard like that. I would be too nervous to do a mod like that. These headphones aren't cheap and if you mess something up your screwed. Has anyone made a guide to do that mod?

Does anyone else besides me wish that the DT880 or DT990's had a removable cable like the sennheiser headphones do. Would be nice to put a Chris himself cable on it I think.

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Yes I am aware that sound does bleed out just not as much as the completely open headphones like the dt990s. A comment a few pages back from a member who owned both the dt990 and dt880 for a year said that they bleed about 50% less sound than the dt990. These headphones will have the level of...

Your helping me confirm my decision even more to get the DT880's. If they are that close to the HD600's then they have the perfect combination of sound and isolation that I'm looking for right now.

Nice! Then its a no brainer if the only thing thats different is just the color of the metal. I actually prefer the darker color metal on them anyways.

Which headphone do you prefer to listen to the HD600 or the DT880?

I don't know how to describe the part but in the picture on amazon for the headphones (http://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-DT-880-Premium-250/dp/B000F2BLTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380831072&sr=8-1&keywords=dt880+premium) the part where the "can" is connected to the head band one looks silver...

LOL thats exactly what I thought about how the Grado's would feel after 10 minutes when I first saw them!    Ok I was thinking about getting the premiums because they seemed to be built stronger with the metal and everything but I'm sure the pro at that price would be just as good.

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I was actually looking at getting a Grado headphone when I first started looking at getting headphones. But I was eventually persuaded by what I was reading about the 4ai's to get them instead. To be honest I never really liked the comfort of on the ear headphones so thats something that...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Ok the HE400 is definitely not something that I would like then. I listen to mainly Rock with a little bluegrass too. Maybe I would prefer the DT880. Another thing I need to get is either a Amp/DAC or a sound card. A amp/DAC is preferred over a sound card right? I was thinking about trying to...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

lol I haven't tried any hi-fi headphones before so that could be true. The only thing I have listened to are the 4ai's so I'm excited to try some headphones out too. So you preferred the DT990 for rock before you balanced the DT880's? What is your opinions on the HE 400? do you like it better...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Ok thanks for the insight!  It's good to get the opinion of someone that owned both the DT880 and DT990. Thats what my original thought was that they were about 50% louder than the DT880's but I wasn't sure. Do you prefer the sound of the DT990 or DT880? Also do you have any IEM's that you...

Thanks that comparison helped. I might buy them used so I guess I'll just see what is available at the time I'm ready to buy and make a decision then.

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Thats how I was thinking the difference was between the two and that little difference between the sound leakage was making me lean towards the DT880. However if the sound difference was a lot better with the DT990 I might be able to overlook the amount of sound that leaks from them and get...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Ok strange. From the video demo's I saw I could of sworn that there was a night and day difference between the DT990 and the DT880. I guess you never can tell unless your seeing them in person. Too many variables like how far the microphone is away from the person. I read Tyll's website...

So this graph shows that as far as isolation goes there pretty much the same? (Sorry I'm new to graphs) So choosing between the two based on isolation wouldnt be wise?

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I'm not sure how it could leak just as much as any open can if the DT880 is semi-open. Even if it has just a little bit of a barrier in them that has to be doing something to stop some of the sound. This guy does a video review of the DT880 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL19bwWYY24) and the...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I saw a video on both the DT990 and DT880 on how much sound leaks from them and from what I could tell it seemed the DT990 leaks about 80-90% of the sound from them where the DT880's seem to leak about 40-50% of the sound. I think the DT880's are just more at a bearable level.

Thanks for the information. I think I read somewhere else that these were good for gaming or maybe it was one of the other beyerdynamic headphones I can't remember. But I think it would be great to hear every little detail like that. I thought about getting the DT990 and was looking at some...

    Heir Audio 4.ai trade

I started toying with the idea of trading my Heir Audio 4.ai's in for a over the ear headphones in a similar price range. However I'm not sure how the headphones would compare to the sound of the IEM's I currently have. The headphones I'm looking at are the Sennheiser HD600 or the Beyerdynamic...

Budged sound card for HD 558

Yes I agree it is a high end board. I just used the sabertooth as an example though and was only going to consider getting one if I heard good things about the onboard sound on that board being equivalent to a <$50 sound card. Which I didn't so I wont be getting one. I'm on a 4-5 year upgrade...
