    Cooking Gear-Fi

I use barkeepers friend every half dozen or so times I clean mine, main thing for me is always heating to leidenfrost first. The cooking surface of my SS fry pans look near new after 8 years of very close to daily use.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

I had meant to have a play around earlier with volume controls on Android, I hadn't got around to looking at it properly before now, but have just been mucking around with it since I have a new phone. Unlike my Samsung, the Red Magic 9 Pro doesn't neuter bluetooth codec support, but equally it...

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

I have aptX-Adaptive which is the newer codec and encompasses HD with my Bathys (Red Magic 9 Pro). How old is the source device?

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

I would be using with USB Audio Player Pro on Android, should be able to take over volume control and offer more steps. Hopefully someone with an Android device can confirm.

For anyone looking out for stand mixers I would recommend Ankarsrum. I have a KitchenAide, but it doesn't really cut it for making breads. If you're more baking cakes and the like then KitchenAide is fine, but when this one dies ill definitely be getting the Ankarsrum (I'm half expecting the KA...

For pots and pans the CuisinArt multiclad Pro range is great and quite a bit cheaper than All Clad gear (lots of Amazon reviewers with both rate it as good as the All Clad range). I got their 12 quart stockpot for making ramen broths, after destroying a cheap one making tonkotsu (literally one...

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

If for Android use, USB Audio Player Pro can have PEQ via in-app purchase (and is my go-to app for pairing with USB DACs regardless).

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

Depends on your hearing, low frequency hearing loss much less common than high frequency (usually only in context of more profound deafness), so for vast majority I would not expect a boost in bass.

Those are peak powers aka entirely meaningless.

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

Yeah, if that is the case it puts a serious dent in my plans to pick it up if it cannot be addressed. Playback whilst charging and bypass charging would be the ideal, but the former is probably a requirement for me.

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

From what has been said I don't know if this is the behavior it exhibits.

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

For me no pass through charging is a major omission for a device of this type, hopefully @Questyle can address with a firmware update. Otherwise sounds very good. Regards volume steps, I'd be using with Android and USB Audio Player Pro, so likely not an issue for my use case as it can take...

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

If UAPPs volume control over USB-C works with one Android device it should basically work with all.

I should have time to do this in a few hours after work.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

For non-Samsung Android users has anyone tried UAPPs volume controls when in wired DAC mode? For those who prefer listening that way it might represent a solution. When I have a chance I'll try it wired and Bluetooth, expecting if it works it'll only be in wired DAC mode.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

In the notifications shade is there an option on connection for USB mode? There is when plugging into a PC for example. If no options there then I'm afraid I'm not sure. Definitely should not be doing that. When I have a moment I'll plug mine in over USB-C and see what happens.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

For Samsung users with issues with volume steps get the Samsung Good Lock app from the Galaxy Store. Add the sound assistant module and you can change the size of volume steps (added non-sound related benefit - you also you can add a camera assistant which let's you reduce the amount of...

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

If I go into developer options while my Bathys is connected to S23 Ultra it shows HD selected and AptX. UPDATE: Looking into it further it looks like HD Audio is a blanket indicator for any codec better than SBC, so AptX qualifies for that option to be selected but is not the same thing as AptX-HD.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

Interesting, I've only used mine with my phone which is Apt-X Adaptive, at some point will connect to my tablet and see if any audible difference.

Focal Bathys - Wireless ANC Over-Ear Headphone

Doctor here and agree with this take. I wish I could wear headphones doing tasks, but unfortunately if I'm attending to a task I basically don't hear the music at all, so I use speakers when I'm cooking and such and it is very much just background noise adding some ambience. I can listen while...
