FWIW, my main speaker system is currently Asus 1000H --> Pico DAC --> Almarro A205AmkII --> Omega Super 8 Alnicos. I've cycled through many sources/DACs, and to my ears, this is good as any.

best I've heard 880-600ohm was out Earmax Silver or AE, or out of Almarro integrated, so another vote for tubes. try it straight out of apogee duet, I didn't expect it to work so well, but I like much better than HD580/650 straight out of duet. YMMV
