Hard to notice quality except in comparison?

I've been away from my apt for a week and a half because of the holidays, and I returned and listened to my DT880s with a Little Dot MKIII amp again and it sounds amazing. I don't remember it sounding this good when I listened to it basically 5 days a week. It seems as though it's really...

    Soundstage Question

So I read reviews of headphones on here that state that people can pinpoint the location of instruments coming from all directions. I have the Beyerdynamic DT880s amped using a Little Dot MKIII with M8100s, and a Zero with an Earth HDAM as my DAC. While it does sound really good, I really...

Upgraded Zero sounds better than stock Little Dot MKIII?

I just got my Little Dot MKIII in the mail yesterday and burned it in for about 8 hours before listening. However, I feel that my upgraded Zero with a Earth HDAM in the DAC and LT1364's in the head amp actually sounds better. The soundstage seems much wider and the sound is more detailed...

Are the DT-880s really that bad for hip-hop?

I had a pair of Shure E2C's which broke, and I just got a pair of Etymotic HF2's for my iPhone. Now I realize how music should sound. Because I wanted something I could listen to at home too, I bought a set of DT-880's. I listen to about 60% hip-hop, and the rest electronica and pop. Now I am...
