Yes, it does make a difference as stated... Less interferance as a dedicated PCI card was meant for audio unlike a Motherboard who has plenty of stuff cluttered.

For the price, I love them... Ou of the box there is a lot of bass but after burning them in they get smoother.

I'm afraid they're pretty good and expensive too... From Sennheiser you also have the HD 212 Pro (look similar to HD 497) and the HD 215 (look similar to HD 485)...

Since they are your first proper headphones you might not feel ok with them on. You have to wear them!

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD570 too... I run them from my Sony A/V Receiver and occasionally from my Audigy 1. If you try them on a portable player with something like 2x5mW you're screwed up, lol. Amped they sound much better. Also, I found out that burning them in for a few days will result...
