HD800 with decent amp suddenly brings you into Stax´ electrostatic territory (ie SRS 4170 system) and they are truly in an entirely different league. Add to that the satisfaction that you have something so good that you might not easily fall victim to upgraditis in the near future!   :)

I was in the same situation, having owned stax sr-30 electrets since the late eighties I found it was time for an upgrade. Ordered the 507/323s, but have to wait about a month so my dealer was kind enough to let me loan a brand new srs-4170 set while i wait. I thought my old stax sounded great...
