2XR definitely has more warmth than the 4S. I think that's the "safer" option to dip into the Ety sound.

I have been following CraftEars (and the C6 in particular after the teasers) since I've heard the C4. Hopefully the C6 finds its way locally for demo soon.

Totally agree. Perhaps one way to "minimize" the damage is to try and get the ER2XR. It will let you try out the fit and the ety sound on a budget.

Which filter are you referring to? I find that stock (a la FD01) is difficult to listen to, but the blue filter seems to hit the spot.

Among people I know, Gaebolg was one preferred by most of them. Personally I think the Balmung would be my favourite from the line-up. It was very heavy with the low-end, and thick sounding so it's definitely further from a balanced sound than say the Gaebolg but I think it was executed better...

I will agree to disagree. My biggest problem is with the Homunculus. The bass sounds like it is positioned in front of the entire sound, and the tonality is weird. It was very difficult to judge the other aspects like staging when this effect was very jarring. The Thummin at least I can see some...

Unfortunately looks are about the only thing interesting for them.

The homunculus is particularly terrible. The "disc" was sharp and felt like it could cut my ear.

For portable my go-to is the DP-S1 / DX160. But I normally use my etys at home (ER4S / ER4B) with the ifi Micro Black Label, which has been working wonderfully for me.

That is exactly how I would have described it as well... I was shocked when I first heard it. I didn't know music can sound that way. The shape didn't help too and I was constantly worried it would slice my ear.
