Anyone have plans for a DIY Line-in Level Meter

Why do you guys want little LEDs to light-up to sense the signal level? If you need a rough estimate, aren't your ears good enough? And, if you need something precise, why wouldn't you use a voltmeter? If you really want to do this, then drive the output signal to four comparators (eg: use a...

    Alternatives to the BUF634

Hello, I am in need of a compact, low-cost alternative to the BUF634 for an output stage in a headphone amplifier. I have heard positive things about the EL2001, but I can't find a single distributor for the IC (has it been EOLed?). An output stage constructed from discrete components would...

    DIY Anodization...

Yup. You need quite a bit of current, and it's difficult to get the same current density throughout the entire part, and an uneven distribution means the colour will be uneven as well. I've seen a lot of anodizing work where there are blank spots on the metal because of electrical issues.

Got Some Wire -- Have Questions

I'm not sure if I count 4 or 5 wires there (plus shielding fibres). Regardless, tie two cables together on one end and solder it to the ground connection on your mini jack. Then pick your wires for the left and right signals and solder to the mini jack. Eg: - tie white and black...

    Gold or silver-plated 3.5mm (1/8") stereo jacks?

Who makes these, who sells them, and how much is this going to cost me? Silver-plating would be better as the resistance is lower and the durability will be higher (harder than gold). Options?

    What are 'mono' capacitors?

"Mono" refers to a "monolithic" or "multilayer" capacitor. This just refers to the manufacturing process whereby the capacitor is formed by binding multiple, thin sheets of ceramic on which electrodes have been painted (sandwich of sheets).
