Where can I get browndogs in the UK??
Sounds very cool PF.....don't know if I need them, but I would certainly like to try them, but at £15 a pop from RS I was going to give them a miss. I would need 2 in dip8 if you can spare them.... PM me how much you'd want for them. Cheers- Grif

Where can I get browndogs in the UK??
Great stuff Pinkfloyd, thanks. I had'nt seen his catalogue, I've got an old PDF of it on me poota. I shall go for a couple of his double sided ones so I can try the AD825's, which I can get 4 of for less than the price of 1 OPA2107 at RS. Cheers.- Grif

Thanks for that Xakepa. I don't think I'm going to bother with it. Can't justify the silly money pricetag.- Grif

OPA2107 Dacmagic
I'm upgrading a Dacmagic 3 I bought on ebay for £25 its way better than I was expecting so I've decided to keep it and spend abit of cash on it. Schottky's and Oscons mostly. However, its got 2 AD712's on the output so I'm going to put a couple of sockets in and try OPA2134, 2604 and op275...- Grif

J&W J1 Dc offset test points
Hi KOOgar Have the amp warm, no source connected. Set your meter to DC 200mv. At the headphone jack you'll find 3 wires left, right and ground...just follow them back up to the pcb to determine which is which. The test is ground to left and ground to right...both should be 0v. HTH- Grif

Frying tonight
Thanks rickcr42....I thought the regs would be OK, but as they were so cheap I replaced them anyway. Turns out it was a ground problem....the headphone socket is chasis mounted as opposed to pcb mounted and I was testing it with it hanging off....as soon as I mounted it on the face plate of the...- Grif

Frying tonight
OK...not too clever, but whilst trying to measure the input voltage on one of the regs in my amp (G&W TWJ1) I slipped and shorted accross in/out. I turned off the amp quick, but the op amp after the power supply still went up in smoke .....yes, thankyou, I know I'm a numpty Anyway, I've...- Grif

Electrolytics are Evil
Ummm...sorry for the stupid question, but how do you 'bypass' an electolytic with a film cap....I've seen them under the board directly beneath the electrolytic...but I thought that was in parallel- Grif

Extremely well built and very versatile piece of kit with high and low frequency adjustments, 3 levels of crossfeed and passthrough. I thought it was excellent. Does'nt work with balanced set ups though...so I sold mine to saint.panda ^^- Grif

What do I need in between a M-Audio Audiophile 192 and a Sennheiser HD650
Hi burrough I'm using Flacs ripped with EAC through foobar2000 with kernal streaming to an M-Audio Audiophile 192 to a G&W TJ1 amp to 650's and it sounds absolutely superb. I bought the G&W from ebay new for £100. A headsave classic 2nd hand would also be a good option if you can find one, or...- Grif

Senn plug surgery
I made a balanced cable for my 650's which I tested by soldering the headphone ends to the contact points under the grills....worked no problem at all. If you were to use it as a permenant solution, you'd just need to work out some strain relief. Not directly to the drivers though...so I... -
