Meelec M6 -- Awful (Update: Not So Awful)
I have fit issues with the pair I just got too although it seems like I have the opposite problem. I can hear great highs when I am touching the phones but as soon as they shift to a natural position it's gone. I also hear what I figure can only be driver flex whenever I try to reposition them...- yellowjeep

A Super-Simple 6DJ8 Headphone Amp
You could but why? If you have a spike in power or you short something when adjusting bias you will fry transistors and all kinds of stuff rather than just a cheap fuse.- yellowjeep

SFI eMatic/Kanen Frankenphones. Dampening Ideas?
I just threw together a pari of SFI ortho headphones and so far I am pretty happy with the sound. The bass is fantastic, it has great impact and depth. What I am missing is the HF sparkle. From wading though the gigantic Ortho Round Up, I have gathered that I need some sort of dampening...- yellowjeep

Help a teenager avoid buying Dr. Dre Beats
First the OP was never buying Beats. His aunt was going to for his cousin. Second if she wants them because her friends have them she isn't going to be happy with anything else for the multitude of reasons already discussed in this thread. If she wants Beats and here mother is willing and able...- yellowjeep

Help a teenager avoid buying Dr. Dre Beats
If somebody wants something solely for the bing/social acceptance factor there will be no convincing them that any alternative will do, in this case its not about the sound its about the "look". Trust me I have a sister, two actually but only one is especially bad about this type of thing. I am...- yellowjeep

I am sooo lost! Anyone mind helping me pick out headphones for my husband?
How about the JVC HAS700? Cheap as chips and a few here seem to rave about them? http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/478533/holy-crap-what-the-hell-jvc-has700-is-incredible You could take a little bit of the left over $ and get a simple amp like a Fiio E5. Just a thought- yellowjeep

How should I use my SFIs?
It was pretty helpful but I had a hard time finding much about how to best use the SFI drivers, I saw them mentioned a few times but no solid leads.... at least that I could locate.- yellowjeep

DIY DACs
Thanks tomb, I have read your grub dac tutorial and watch a number of tutorials on SMD and I am confident I can do it. I have zero knowledge of how this stuff actually work, I just know how to put it together. So design from scratch is way over my ability level right now. I am really looking...- yellowjeep

DIY DACs
I am about i the same boat as the OP I have been looking for a new project. How do the DACs mentioned compared to an iPod with rockbox and .flac? Will I see any improvement or would I be better off building a nice LOD and maybe DIYmoding the ipod?- yellowjeep
