Lossless files and stuff
I find it funny that Ray over at RSA says, " Get an Ipod Classic, RSA protector, and JH13's and ripp in ALAC, nothing is better I promise you" That was quoted from a phone conversation I had with him. Is this not true? He also said not to listen to the 13 year olds on here. Is this true also...- poloman

Does either of these support LAME ? What would be the best format to rip CD's into for these players? Also, do both of these have the same DAC's?- poloman

Does it matter....really?
Quote: LOL, no the Westone's are for me. I was thinking the new Classic just because of the space to rip all my CD's in ALAC or FLAC. Do you recommend a different player? Would something else go better with the UM3X and no amp?- poloman

Ok now I am more confused! If I get an Ipod classic, my wife's Sony will not support lossless!!! Damn, just when I thought I had something done. What do you do if you have 2 different DAPS , but want to put the albums on both. Rip twice? Please tell me it aint so!!!- poloman

If you get a great amp, does it really matter what DAP you get? Why not get a new 160 GB Ipod and pair it with a great amp and cans. Am I correct? I just bought a Sony E345 for my wife, should I amp it or leave it alone? What IEM's should I get her? If the Ipod is the way to go, what would be a...- poloman

Also, maybe this is off topic.....a lot I guess! What is the best way to get my music encoded and put on the J3, if I go that way, or the clip+ ? Media monkey? Does it do Podcasts? Sorry! So the J3 reviews say it feels "plasticky" and cheap is this true? As far as phones go,can I put custom ear molds and cables on the ue triple fi 10's? Do I need too? I read they are big and do not fit well. Living so far away from civilization, it is hard to try anything without buying online...- poloman

Call the Audiology department and ask about walk in hours for ear molds, here in SD it is 10:30 and 1:30. If you are able to go the VA hospital you should be able to get it done Hey, I am proud of myself....I helped someone else out!!- poloman

I really appreciate all the great responses. So, for now I will skip the amp. So know I have to narrow down the DAP and phones. I have the BOSE in ear, so I kind of like that feel. Do the in ears plug your ears up? I hate that feeling!!! I am a Veteran, so I can get ear molds done for free...- poloman

Those are my main questions. Do I need an amp? What are the best earbuds, or iems for no amp? When do you need an amp? Do I need an amp for the kind of music and podcasts I listen to? What would be a great set up for a DAP + phones without an amp that I can later add to if I wanted. I am...- poloman
