    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

I just bought a HD800. For now I want to buy a SS amp/dac with a budget of $750 MAX. It should be able to connect a tube amp for the future (e.g. Little Dot MK VIII SE or DNA Sonnet 2).  So the dac should be good and the most important part of the combo.   For now I'm set on an Audio-GD...

    DAC for LCD2.2-F and Soloist

I have the LCD-2, don't have the Soloist, was planning to buy that amp because of the recommendations I read when searching for an amp for the LCD-2.

    DAC for LCD2.2-F and Soloist

Short question.   Which DAC has good synergy with LCD2.2-F and Soloist? Or is a Mjolnir/Gungnir better for the money?

    Which would you choose?

Maybe an other question. Which ss or tube amp has >= 4.0W @ 50 ohms with single ended and balanced headphone output?

    Which would you choose?

Looking for an amp/DAC setup that is versatile for most headphones (high impedance driver and planars) and I could use for many many years. For now the headphone I use is the Alpha Dog, HD800 on shipping. Next buy at the end of the year will be HE-6 or LCD-3. Budget max 1500 dollars, Burson...

wtb closed headphones and a portable source

Those headphones do cost alot more than for instance the DT770, do they have equal or better comfort/noise isolation.   How about the isolation between the full-size (DT770, ATH-M50x) compared to the on-ears?

wtb closed headphones and a portable source

Hello fellow Head-Fi'ers,   I want to buy new headphones, closed full-size or on-ear to use when travelling. Please don't recommend noise cancelling headphones or iem's. Tested last week a Bose QC15 and didn't like the sound at all. I also get irritations from iem's.   At home I use...

Quest to a new (audiophile) setup

Is it a better decision to spend more on a player with an internal DAC? With my budget I could buy the DT 1350 along with an Iriver Astell & Kern AK 100. Should it have problems driving an 80ohm headphone?

Quest to a new (audiophile) setup

Thanks for the explanation.   So should I best buy an amp for portable use and an extra separate DAC for when using at home on a pc?

Quest to a new (audiophile) setup

Can you explane to me what the basic function of a DAC is? I thought that the DAC is used when connected to a desktop/laptop as soundcard.

Quest to a new (audiophile) setup

After reading some more I think of buying the following setup:   Colorfly C3 -> Fiio E17 -> Beyerdynamic DT 1350, good choice?   And what about a good LOD cable, does it make a big difference or should I choose for a Fiio L2 or L8?

Quest to a new (audiophile) setup

Hi, Quest: portable audio for long flights and journey's to ski resorts by car. Also for listening music at home. Current gear: sennheiser hd595, Sony nwz a639f, mp3 files and creative ep630 (broken since a few days) I always used my hd595 on the pc for watching movies/listening music and...

Sure laugh about it but then show some proof please. By the way I’m not trying to upset people who believe in burn-in.

    Burn-in myth

I also replied this in another thread but wanted to share this with all of you. Some might say burn does affect SQ/frequency response, some say it's a myth. Here is the proof: Headphone Burn-in Test I asked Dave Rat about those specific headphones in the vid and how much impact burn-in...

    Burn-in question

Some might say burn does affect SQ, some say it's a myth. Here is the proof. YouTube - Headphone Burn-in Test I asked Dave Rat about those specific headphones in the youtube vid how much impact burn-in would have on the frequency response. So this is 1 proof burn-in is a myth.
