Have you heard of the Xiaomi bluetooth receiver? Though it is not as good as BTR1 in term of sound qualify and battery life (~4-5 hours), it does exactly what you wanted. The in-line remote on the headset works perfectly. It is also much cheaper than BTR1.

I meant updating Spotify app. I don't think you can update the BTR1.

I would recommend that you try it with other apps, such as YouTube, Pandora, etc. The button did not work with Spotify before the most recent update. Now it does. I think it is something to do with Spotify.

Does the volume button work on the BTR1?

I do not have the fiio f9 but I do have the Xiaomi piston 3 and the stock Samsung android headset. the in-line remote (volume and play/pause) did not work on both. You will have to use the BTR1 remote.

I also recently got it from the tigerdirect deal in ebay.  for 40 hope it is worth it. 

I have both mc5 and hje900.  The isolating on the 900 with different tips was nowhere near the isolation of the mc5. I found the biflange from head direct provide the better isolation for the hje900.  For the plane, I would not recommend something like the hje900.

I have both re0 and hje900. For classical and rock, I believe re0 would be the better choice because of the clarity and the instruments separation.  I still prefer to listen to the re0 for those kind of musics. From what I heard, mc5 is very similar to the re0's SQ, I would actually choose that...

Actually I was in the same dilemma when I got my triple 10 for 100 last year and re0 for 85.  I finally opened the triple 10.  At the end, I prefer the clarity on the re0 more than the triple fi.
