There is a variable gain version?  I just looked over the project page on AMB, and from what I understood the gain is fixed by the resistor values I choose, and the board does not have space for multiple configurations.

So I've had a pair of DT770 250ohm 2005 consumer with new pads for over a year now.  I still can't get used to the hot and sticky pads.  They don't itch as much anymore though. I'll definitely keep looking.
