Custom Earbuds - without custom molds
www.yurbuds.com Apparently these guys are making custom earbuds (ibuds) from photographs. They cost $30 for the entire package, or $20 if you already have the ibuds. I'm not sure how successful they are, but since the insertion isn't terribly deep perhaps they can get a decent custom fit...- JxK

Review Audio Technica ATH-M50
Note: I do not actually own the m50. They were loaned to me for two weeks, and this review is based upon my impressions of these headphones over this two week period. Note 2: I unfortunately sent the m50 back before I thought to take pictures myself, so I’ll give credit to google images for...- JxK

Grado sound, but with better soundstage and sub-bass
Just like the topic reads. I'm looking for something that retains the general toe-tapping sound of the grado sound, while also managing to have much more impact in the sub-bass (no mid bass bleed or needless warmth) and better soundstage. I can make bass better to a pretty good degree on my...- JxK

Flamenco Guitar
If I'm a fan of Jesse Cook and Ottmar Liebert, what other artists would you guys recommend I explore? -
Looking for a specific headphone.
Right now, my main set of cans are my sr60s. They are a fun and enjoyable listen, but there are a few things I would like to see changed/improved. Basically, I'm looking for something that, while it isn't warm or full of midbass bloat, has audible and visceral sub bass. When listening to Mahler...- JxK

Looking for a good budget car GPS
I'm looking for a good gps system for a car. My brother will be moving out soon, and I'd like him to have a GPS. I don't mind buying used or refurbished. What are some good recommendations? I've been looking at the garmin nuvi 255 and 260, but really, I have almost no idea where to start. ...- JxK

Interesting Article about the Future of Music the Industry
Here it is. It's a bit old (2007) but in some ways that makes it even more interesting. You can read it, and see which of the predictions are coming true, and which aren't.- JxK

Determining volume of headphones (db)
I'm wondering if there's some sort of relatively definitive way to determine how loud my music is playing without the use of an SPL meter (which I don't have). Is there perhaps some sort of formula where I can plug in a headphone's impedance, sensitivity, and the strength of my clip's internal...- JxK

Do the following links provide empirical evidence of burn in?
I saw these linked in a different post claiming they prove burn in. I'm wondering if it is the case, or if there is something inherently flawed in the methodology used. How the Audax AP100Z0 loudspeaker drivers were broken-in and the T/S parameters measured. Peerless XLS10 10" Subwoofer...- JxK

IEMs and Strain Relief
I was recently wondering just why so many budget - and not so budget - IEMs lack a proper strain relief. Some just don't have one period. And of the rest, nearly every IEM probably under $60 doesn't have the cable bonded to the strain relief. Is doing so such a difficult and expensive...- JxK

What is the fascination with gin?
I've had experience with a wide variety of alcoholic beverages over the years, and can appreciate why each is liked. Even drinks that I tend to eschew such as tequila, I can at least understand why someone else might enjoy it. But gin remains the odd one out. Just today I was over at a friend's...- JxK

Are you content?
Do you feel the need to upgrade even after making a new purchase? Are you always looking for the new FOTM? Are you happy with your current equipment? Me, I'm happy with everything I have now, except for my IEMs - those I'm looking to upgrade. Otherwise, I am content. Now, that's not to say I...- JxK

How it's made: AKG Headphones

IEMs vs Portables
With the recent influx of new universals, as well as new custom monitors, it seems like IEMs have taken center stage over portables, at least as far as attention goes. Question is, have high end IEMs surpassed high end portables as far as sound quality is concerned?- JxK

Fun and Engaging Cans: Grado SR-60 vs AKG K240
I am looking for an engaging set of full size cans to run from a laptop via the TBAAM. I listen to alot of vocals, but also like various acoustic genres, folk...- JxK

Bright and Musical Dynamic IEM
I tried the S4 on the recommendation of a member (best buy 30 day return policy) and decided that the warmth isn't my cup of tea. So. I am left looking for a dynamic IEM in production that has a bright, though not harsh sound signature, with crisp and sparkly highs. Unlike most other...- JxK

Does such a dynamic IEM exist?
This is more of a curiosity question. But I was wondering if any company makes a dynamic IEM that has a warm sound signature, yet still manages to keep a good (and even slightly forward) midrange, and those "crisp" and "sparkly" grado like highs. However, unlike a grado, the top end must not be...- JxK
