Thinking of getting my first record player but having trouble with coming up with a setup.   I was thinking of getting a U-Turn Orbit. From what I've read I need a pre-amp, the U-Turn website offers "ART DJPRE II phono pre-amp" and I've also seen NAD PP2i recommended and might go with that...

Thanks! After a lot of scouring through the forums and thought... I think I may just hop over and go for Mjolnir + Gungnir. I don't think I will be able to deal with the option paralysis the tubes will give me lol. I'm also looking at LCD-2 now, rather than HE-400s, and it seems like this setup...

Haha, really? Awful? I guess I have been seeing more and more complaints regarding it; sibilance, faulty cables, etc.   Are you using stock tubes for the Lyr when pairing with HD600s?

Hey I was wondering about two things: 1. Are the HE 400s complimentary to these headphones? As in, if I got those would I just be doubling up on two very similar phones? I assume given the talk about how 'energetic' the hifimans are and the bass presence they would be more suitable for metal...

Thanks for the reply. This is embarrassing though, I meant what kind of cables, exactly, not what brand haha.   So, uh... the laptop will be connected to the HRT II via USB. Now what am I using to connect the HRT to the Asgard? What kind of cables exactly? Just any old RCA? Or what.
