Depending on when you purchased it they can use your serial number to identify the chip. I bought mine in November and it came with the latest firmware. I emailed them and asked for the FW downloads just in case I wanted to "play" with the different updates and all they needed was the serial...

Actually emailing u th FW wouldnt work as they need to know which FPGA chip you have.

Are you using the computer for streaming or do you have music downloaded on it. If streaming why not just get a Bluesound Node or the like which will be less complicated.

If you have to reboot the Mac, try shutting the power off on the dac and then turn the mac back on and see what happens.

The only thing I can suggest is do not power off the denafrips or the mac.
