    Amplifier for Pioneer SP-BS41-LR

Same boat as you, OP! For what it's worth, the Pioneer speakers sound bloody amazing in my living room setup (when they get a chance to flex their muscles -- they're being used as rears). Gonna play close attention to this threat to see what y'all decide on.

Most Cost-Effective Way to Hook Up Pioneer BS-41's to Computer

They are definitely not the most efficient speakers, but I'm thinking the Pioneer BS41's will likely sound better than the Audioengine A2's. Don't really play music all that loud, so it should be fine.   Thanks!

Most Cost-Effective Way to Hook Up Pioneer BS-41's to Computer

Hullo,   I've got myself a 5.1 set of Pioneer speakers downstairs, with the rear Pioneer BS41's barely being put to use. Since I need some desktop speakers upstairs, I would like to use the BS41's as computer speakers. However, I only have onboard audio, and my video card (Radeon 4870) sends...

Please Help -- Surround Sound for a Newly Built PC

Dear Head-Fi'ers, I've recently built an excellent PC, and paired it with an excellent monitor: the Samsung T260HD (essentially a TV with 1900x1200 resolution). There's a cable line running to the monitor to watch TV, and an HDMI from the computer to the monitor. My goal is to have a 5.1...

    Comparing the SE115 with SRH840 and SRH440

Oh, I see why you'd be comparing them -- they're around the same price point, the SE115 & SRH. Well, in all likelihood, SQ-wise the full-size headphones will demolish the SE115. If you want sound isolation, definitely get an IEM but don't go for the SE115! There are far better IEM's out...

Shure SE530 mini review, as promised ;)

This is a really good review, laying out all of the advantages and limitations of the 530's. Future Head-Fi'ers should look here if they're interested in these IEMs. I'll be looking forward to your Atrio review for sure! Out of curiousity, does the Mach3 help with the slightly-recessed...

Shure SE530 : Are they a "fun" IEM?

$211?! Damn, get on that! If 'fun' is the opposite of 'laid back' though, then the 530's are no fun at all. But they're a pleasure to listen to.

ER4P finally bit the dust -- what now?

Cry. Then spring for something bassier -- maybe Westone 3's, or Shure 530's.

    Q-Jays or Ety hf5...upgrading from Ety ER6i

For purity of sound, I'd stick with Ety. q-Jays can cause sibilance sometimes, but they've got much better bass.

Ever Since I Joined Head-Fi I Stare at People's Headphones

As creator of this thread I am shocked that there are 4 people out there who don't give a damn about others' headphones. It is our duty as Head-Fi'ers to help bring the masses out of the Dark Ages of White iBuds. And the first step is noticing what other people are wearing.

I admit it. It's true. I can't help it. Can you? The other day, this burly guy packing biceps the size of my face threw me a look of venom when I stared at his V-Modas for one second too long. He looked like he was ready to give me customs by punching my 530's directly into my skull. On...

    IEM for plane / sleeping

Shure SE530's. I've slept with them, and they have the sound signature you want. They're really comfortable for me, and are so smooth and easy to listen to that I often fall asleep with them on. SE530, bro. Usually I don't peddle these IEMs as THE one-and-only answer (I usually recommend a...

    Is it common?

I think you should quit asking us and try ripping a few songs to higher quality yourself; then test and see whether or not you can hear a difference with your new-and-upcoming IEMs. I sincerely hope you do hear the difference, because 128 sounds really muffled to me and only 192+ is passable on...

    What to buy

If you like laid-back, smooth easy listening get the SE530. If you want an exciting "experience" every time you listen, get the Westone 3. Both are excellent, but the 530's cheaper.

    Audeo Phonak Silicone Ear Guides?

Sorry to sidetrack a bit, but to those using the Phonak Ear Guides with the SE530, can you comment on how useful and comfortable it is? I constantly feel the thick wire, and often it doesn't conform to my ears' shape, especially when I'm using them for the first time in the morning. Would the...

    Why does everybody hate se530?

@barleyguy, What did you think of the IE8's? Did you own them for a long time? It'll help us tailor your decision. I'm worried that if you go to the 530's from the IE8's, you'll think that the bass is anemic and pathetic. Really, however, it's more of a difference in quantity, because I strongly...
