Chinese / Asian Brand IEM Info Thread
I'm not sure this is the right place for this question, but here goes anyway. I'm looking for a neckband bluetooth IEM with a good microphone for use in my car (with only one ear plugged in) primarily for phone calls. My car's bluetooth is terrible and constantly dropping connections. Does...- classicalguy

Walnut Hi-Fi V2 WAV (& MP3) Player by wt - :ok_hand: screenless budget killer combo DAP/Amp :ok_hand:
That post doesn't show whether it will play 44.1 or will upsample to 48k (which in my experience doesn't sound good). Too bad it also won't play any hi res. Some people said it sounds good. I'd like to hear more impressions of usb sound quality.- classicalguy

Walnut Hi-Fi V2 WAV (& MP3) Player by wt - :ok_hand: screenless budget killer combo DAP/Amp :ok_hand:
Can someone please explain (or send me a link) where the USB performance of the available players is described? What resolution files can be played through USB on the newer Walnut, and the Zishua Z1 or Z2 using windows? Thanks.- classicalguy

Walnut Hi-Fi V2 WAV (& MP3) Player by wt - :ok_hand: screenless budget killer combo DAP/Amp :ok_hand:
I'm just guessing about your popping sound. If the tracks of your music are connected so that there is no break between tracks you can have a popping sound unless the player supports gapless playback (which I suspect the Walnut does not). The best solution is to copy the multiple connected...- classicalguy

Walnut Hi-Fi V2 WAV (& MP3) Player by wt - :ok_hand: screenless budget killer combo DAP/Amp :ok_hand:
I ordered right when shipment got delayed, and had to wait a long time for delivery (well more than a month). It finally came this week. I initially had trouble with it recognizing a transflash card I had, but it works perfectly with a different card. It may be a bit picky with...- classicalguy

Walnut Hi-Fi V2 WAV (& MP3) Player by wt - :ok_hand: screenless budget killer combo DAP/Amp :ok_hand:
Finally received my nut today, and it would not recognize my TF card (fat 32, clean mp3s or wavs) - just yellow light (not blinking). Newer 32gb class 10 formatted Fat32. Thought it was broken. Finally tried a different TF card and it worked. What does the "hold" switch do?- classicalguy

I'd like to try one of these Walnut Daps, but as mentioned they appear to be in short supply. There is a company called Rose Electric on Aliexpress for about $33 usd delivered which seems the cheapest right now. Is Rose reliable? Anyone know when stocks will be replenished?- classicalguy

Chromecast audio - can anyone comment on sound quality?
Is there a way to tell the cromecast to play music from your network drive. For example, I imagine installing a foobar driver that would play through the cromecast?- classicalguy

FiiO's new Q1 portable DAC-amp: Let's drink to "Happy Listening"!
The Sennheiser HD580, 600 and 650 all have the same 300 ohm impedance, and I think the amp in the q1 did a great job driving my 580s. I have no idea where the statement that the amp is only for iems came from, but it's wrong. The amp has a gain switch for hi and low impedance headphones. I...- classicalguy

FiiO's new Q1 portable DAC-amp: Let's drink to "Happy Listening"!
I tried my 300ohm Sennheiser hd580s, and the amp was plenty powerful to drive them. Played some deep double bass and it was presented nice and clear with plenty of weight but taught. I'm quite impressed with the little guy.- classicalguy

FiiO's new Q1 portable DAC-amp: Let's drink to "Happy Listening"!
I'm an idiot. By mistake I used a charge-only cable. With a proper cable windows recognized it immediately. I'm really impressed with the sound quality. So far its dead-black quiet with the headphones I've tried, plenty of detail and very natural sounding, both through line in and as a USB...- classicalguy

Comparing JVC Budget Headphones
I'm looking for some cheap knockaround headphones. I've been reading reviews on here about the JVC line, many quite old, and I'm interested in a comparison. Basically, there are the JVC HARX Line (300, 500 and 700) and the HAS line (400 and 500). People seem to like the SQ on the HAS line but...- classicalguy

Need T-amp advice for bookshelf speakers
Really like my pioneer bookshelfs (Andrew Jones). Very inexpensive and excellent sounding. I have the older series with the non-removable metal grills, but I've heard nothing but good things about the new ones as well. By far best speakers in the price range.- classicalguy

Bookshelf speakers with lepia amp, volume?
First, I am incredibly impressed with the bs21s and 41s - I have both. When on sale for $40 or $80 respectively, they are an unbelievable bargain. I can play them decently loud with a 15 watt digital amp. If you have a big room, then I'd recommend getting something more powerful. If you want...- classicalguy

Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
The super zs are really small. The bs-21s are about the same size as most small bookshelves, maybe a mite taller. They are not THAT big. I'm using the bigger 41s on my desk without a problem. I just can't get over how good they sound. Sent from my Nexus 7 -
Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
Yea, szeros are much smaller, although heavy lil suckers for their size. But man do those pioneers sound good. That's why the zeros are sitting in the closet. Sent from my Nexus 7 -
Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
Vincedea Wall mounting not a good idea since they are rear ported. Will you back able to compare them with the super zeros and using the two amps? Sent from my Nexus 7 -
Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
Sure it will power them. Just don't play it so loud that the amp clips. Sent from my Nexus 7 -
Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
Man, you sure change your mind a lot! I have a pair of super zeros that I don't use anymore (sitting in a closet). They are terrible without a sub, and just ok with one. Very directional, and cold. Speaker placement is extremely important. In my opinion, the pioneers are a lot... -
Goign for my first awesome speakers and amp setup for pc need suggestions
Cool. Looking forward to your review. I hooked the little ones up to receiver with sub in a big room and like them just as much as on my desk. That sweet tweeter turns a bit harsh at really loud levels, but that's to be expected in any speaker under very high prices. I wouldn't recommend them... -
