Creek phono module - How good is it?

I've been toying with the idea of getting a turntable, probably a used Music Hall or Rega. Anyway, I have a Creek 4330R integrated which has no phono stage, but a phono module can be purchased (I think it's like $90). Does anyone know how this module stacks up against dedicated phono stages...

Help me learn to play guitar. Know any good books?

I'm looking for a good instructional book for learning guitar. I know a few easy chords, but I want a book that will take me beyond beginner level so I feel more comfortable with my instrument. Anyone have a recommendation? By the way, I'm playing on an old classical acoustic guitar.

The Minnesota Twins just won the division series! HELL yeah! And Bud Selig thought this team should be contracted? Somebody please shoot that guy, or at least take away his job and throw him into the streets! Just showing my Twins appreciation.

New Beck album - Sea Change

Anyone else pick this up today? I really like this album because well, I dunno, the songs just seem very good. Vague enough for you? Well, if you don't know anything about this album, it's basically Beck's follow-up to Mutations, which means it's sorta slow, somber music with depressing lyrics...

    The School Thread (rant/rave/discuss)

So it's that time of year again. I just got back from my first day of school and it feels good to just chill in front of the computer and surf the web (with music of course). It feels like it's going to be a good year because I'm a senior (in HS), so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

    Creedence SACD remasters

Has anyone heard anything about these CCR remasters? I saw an ad for them in Sterephile by Acoustic Sounds. I checked their website and they have the 180g LPs but no SACD that I saw. Anyone know the release date?

Competition for DVD? New "D-VHS" format discussion

Link to AudioAdvisor product page So maybe I'm behind the times but this is the first I've seen of this "Digital VHS" format. Apparently it's a new form of VHS that is capable of holding 50GB of data per cassette. That capacity allows it to hold high definition video (1080i?) and...

Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

Cool title eh? So I am currently listening to this new Flaming Lips album on their website, and I'm getting excited because this stuff is so good! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it seems they are pushing their sonic boundaries even further than what was delivered in The Soft Bulletin...

    Sterophile reviews Grado headphones

So I'm browsing through the pages of my new issue of Stereophile, I turn the page and find... a headphone review? The reviewer has some very favorable things about the Grado SR60, SR125, and RS1. I only take issue with one part of the article, where he mentions the great COMFORT of the...

    The Notwist? Anyone?

I've just starting listening to some songs (mp3s) from a new album called Notwist: Neon Golden, and this stuff is really good! It's seems to be a mix of electonica and well, indie pop songs maybe. Apparently this is a German group thats been around for awhile, but I've just now discovered them...

    What is IT?

IT is coming... Have you guys heard about Dean Kamen's new invention IT (codename Ginger)? It's finally being announced on monday! Personally, I think this supposedly revolutionary transportation device could be very useful for some inner city folk and college students. I just hope it...

    Source question: cheap SACD player?

I'm looking into the Sony DVP-NS500V and I have a few questions. I know probably nobody has this unit already, but hopefully you can still help me. I'm in the market for a relatively cheap DVD player, and after seeing that Sony model which includes SACD playback, I was thinking it could be a...
