Aeon 2 closed Impressions and Discussion
They do require a lot of power. The thread on Audio Science Review goes over this in their measurements. They are not very sensitive. Constant 13ohm impedance so need a high current amplifier. Using my Qudelix with my Aeon2 Flow Closed I have to run it balanced in high output power mode with the...- darthwhit

Aeon 2 closed Impressions and Discussion
I've never had a 3.5mm connection fail in my 20 years of headphones starting with my first Grado I modded in 2000. I'm frequently working with my headphones and prefer that if my cable get's stuck it will break away at the cup and not damage something else. I also like that because they are...- darthwhit

While I have your attention... I'm guessing there is a logical reason for choosing the Hirose style connector. Would you be able to share why this connector was chosen over other more prevalent options?- darthwhit

Aeon 2 closed Impressions and Discussion
Typically I lurk but as I haven't seen anything posted I'll add what I've found. I really enjoy my pair of grey market (Ebay for $750) Aeon2 Closed. But... I hated the cable. I purchased the Hirose ends to make my own cable and also orddered a cable from LunaShops that still hasn't arrived. I...- darthwhit

Any known reason why I can't see content on Head-Fi like buying guides and such?
I figured this was a glitch but it's been more than a week where the buying guides or several tutorials just show... 404 not found. https://www.head-fi.org/a/head-fi-buying-guide-over-ear-headphones- darthwhit

Best Smartphone for audiophile
Is there anything on the horizon that might be decent in a sub 5" size? 4.7" would be even better. Or would I be better off getting something like a CEntrance DACport Slim?- darthwhit

Best Smartphone for audiophile
Anyone have experience with Xiaomi Mi4C or Mi4i? "ESS ES9018K2M DAC chip, use OPA1612 professional operational amplifiers 24-bit/192KHz lossless playback" This looks good for $229. I'd be using it on Cricket or AT&T. I don't know how much the lack of 1700MHz bands would effect...- darthwhit

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
You nailed it. If they can make something without a very large expenditure it may be worthwhile. I do think this market can and will increase exponentially if the hardware was available at a decent price.- darthwhit

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
This is why it would be nice to daisy chain them to run off of a single clock or make a single unit that can handle multiple channels. I'm no engineer but it wouldn't seem as though the guys at Schiit already have the tech and know-how to make this happen without too much investment in R&D. Look...- darthwhit

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
As far as I know jRiver will only output to one device not counting different zones. If there was a way for me to daisy chain multiple modi's and have them be seen as a single device then I would do that. Your comment does illustrate how easy it may be to create a device that serves this purpose.- darthwhit

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Something along the lines of an exaSound e28 would be great. I want multichannel audio. I dont want to invest in a new pre pro every time some new standard comes out. What I'm playing with now is let jriver process everything in an HTPC. EQ, room calibration, convolution, ATMOS, DTS, bass...- darthwhit
