I'm looking for a DAC with balanced outputs and either optical or S/PDIF inputs. It also has to have volume control built in. What are my options under $300? I already know about the Little Dot DAC_1, and the Matrix Mini-I. Everything else that I have seen costs over $700 or is not made anymore.

Hello,       I have a basic question and that is, would it be better to equalize any audio through the actual driver's equalizer, or would it be better to equalize through the program playing the music? Would would be the pros and cons of either situation? Thanks!
