In my (so far) limited pad rolling, I concluded that which pads I prefer depends on the kind of music I am listening to. That I think is the beauty of the VC, almost having several pairs of headphones in one. As expensive as they are, it makes them a bargain.

My experience is similar. Love the auteur hybrids, and every time I use other had i switch back. I didn't love the Eikon suedes or the lamb skin universe.

I would highly recommend the GSX-mini if you want to achieve nirvana with your ZMF cans. If i am not using my Elise OTL, the GSX mini is what i reach for with literal every single of my headphones.

...Do you want neutral or slightly warm? To me, that's the biggest difference between the two. If you're looking at those two, also keep an eye on the GSX Mini. A few ears I trust who've heard it liked it more than either the Phonitor or Violectric. I have yet to audition it but it's on my radar.
