Fiio Ex1: Reputable Seller (Fakes?)
I found this eBay seller selling them at $70 incl free int'l shipping...he also offers Make Offer option so probably can get them around $60 which seems like a real bargain. My question is if there are fakes of these floating around and how can I make sure I get genuine ones. I need a seller...- suba3333

Fix cut (separated) insulation on cable
I accidentally cut in 2 places the plastic insulation of the right side wire of my earphones on the (sharpish) metal legs of my laptop tray/stand. These cuts are all the way through the insulation (separation) but the wire seems ok and the sound is still working. Is there a way of fixing this...- suba3333

Ripping old recordings: High Bitrate?
I always wondered if it makes any sense to use high bitrates for older recordings from, say the 30s/40s, which obviously are pretty poor quality. What bitrates would you use for those CDs if you wanted to save on file size? Taking this one step further when would you say high quality... -
iPod nano (2G) dropped, now top panel is bent/sticking out. How to fix?
So I dropped my nano. The top side/panel, where to on/off slider sits, is still in place at both ends but in the middle it is now bending upwards and sticking out of the main body. I tried to push it back in but it always pops up again. I thought about glueing it but the gap is too small to get...- suba3333

Simple Video Editor (Free): Recommendation needed
I need a very basic easy to use editor for trimming/cutting video files (avi/mp4/flv/etc). Free would be nice and without intrusive watermarks plastered in the centre of the screen. Windows 7. Thanks.- suba3333

YouTube audio extractor: recommendation needed
I have been using some web based services for this in the past but am wondering if there are better off line apps available for this. I understand that youTube extraction is offering a very minimal sound quality (guess 128kbps or worse), but there is some really good Live music on there which I...- suba3333

Rip CD in Foobar2000 with AccurateRip?
For the first time ever I today ripped a CD to FLAC in Foobar2000 (had AccurateRip enabled)...the result seems to play fine but on ripping a window came up saying something like "minor error with offset 103 (90)" on every track. I did some searching on AccurateRip but still do not quite...- suba3333

Speakers: Where to buy new foam surrounds
So I watched some youTube vids on how to replace foam surrounds and started to look around to buy them (eBay and simplyspeakers). Seems the size is non standard (angled 71mm). I contacted the maker of the speakers and they informed me that they stopped making these speakers 8 years ago. Any...- suba3333

Editor for mp3
My 2005 Apple iBook died last week and I am about to buy a PC laptop (probably Acer AS5750 with Win7 64bit) in the next few days. I need a very basic mp3 editor/trimmer. It needs to have fading. Any other advice for a Apple to PC switcher re: software in general would be very much...- suba3333

How musical are you? BBC online test
Quite a fun test, takes about 20 minutes and you will participate in a worldwide study about musicality. Note: I skipped the first test, where one has to group sound clips into 4 genres, as I thought that there was something faulty with the sound files (they only played for less than... -
Björk's 45th birthday: 2 interesting podcasts as d/loads.
http://5-against-4.blogspot.com/2010/11/bjork-breezeblock-special-26102004_21.html I am not her biggest fan but these are really interesting, especially the "Mixing It" interview where she talks about her musical development. I love her accent, her Rs are great! Enjoy. -

Cables above L/R split too long on Denon C710
I recently got the C710 as a replacement for my dead C700. The cable on the C710, as has been mentioned many times already is quite flimsy which I do not mind as long as it's working. However what I do mind is the fact that the left/right split is very low (around my belly button and I am...- suba3333

AAC to mp3 conversion: bit rate?
I have some AAC files @128bits which (due to the recent purchase of a Sansa Clip+) I need to convert to mp3. I do no longer have available some of the CDs for re-ripping. As I always understood it, AAC gives a higher sound quality at the same bit rate compared to mp3, so AAC@128bits is about...- suba3333

Meelectronics M6: DIY Filter for soundtube?
I got the M6 today and took them out for a quick run. They fit great for sports, the clip/chin slider and of course the over the ear design with metal hooks work great! Soundwise it's ok so far but I guess they need some burn in. My only concern at this point is that there is no filter or...- suba3333

Denon C700/750 v 710 v Hippo VB: size & fit?
My C700 which I have enjoyed for the last 3 years (thanks HeadFi!) died three weeks ago, so naturally I am drawn to the 710 but I found very little info wrt their fit and size (I guess as no one is complaining that this is not an issue). On pics they seem quite a bit bulkier than my C700 but...- suba3333

Senny IE8 much better than IE7?
I know IE8 have detachable cable and 3-level adjustable bass (both of which I do not nessarily need). I also read that IE7 is more neutral sounding and IE8 has more bass (even on the lowest setting). I thought I was getting the IE7 but if I can find a 2nd hand IE8 I could afford those too. I...- suba3333

Large Live Concerts: Where do you position yourself?
I am just wondering...where is the best place to be in a large arena type setting. Obviously for best views you want to be quite close but for best sound I thought near the sound/lighting control desks...if it's good enough for those guys to be in that position then it certainly is for me. In an... -
From Denon C700 to Turbines or IE7?
I've had the Denon C700 for about 15 months and I am now ready to upgrade to something better with a warm sound signature, great bass, good soundstage and decent isolation. I also need the phones not to stick out to much from my ears so I can sleep with them with my head on its side (which was...- suba3333
