I always wondered if it makes any sense to use high bitrates for older recordings from, say the 30s/40s, which obviously are pretty poor quality. What bitrates would you use for those CDs if you wanted to save on file size?
Taking this one step further when would you say high quality recordings became available to the public....imho recordings from the 60s are still pretty poor, so I'd say 1970s.
