Advice on comfortable, well isolating neutral IEM ~$300
Thank you for your input. I ended up getting the Etymotic ER3XR taking your advice that finding the right tips will give me the comfort I want. Detachable cable was another criteria since I’ve gone through 4 cables on my other IEMs. So far I’m happy with it. Isolation is great and the bass is...- jegarn

Advice on comfortable, well isolating neutral IEM ~$300
Hi everyone I am looking for a new IEM for traveling, commuting and open office environment. I tried Bosse and Sonys different ANC headphones after reading good reviews but was turned off by the SQ which I found to lack detail and precision and they had way too much bass. This turned my...- jegarn

More info on B&W 685 S2 (vs KEF LS50)
To report back, in case more people would be considering the same speakers. I ended up buying the KEF LS50 with custom stands. I didn't listen to any of the above speakers when looking around since I couldn't find them in stores near by. What I listened to was a couple of different more... -
More info on B&W 685 S2 (vs KEF LS50)
Thank you for your quick answer. Do you think the 551 will be enough to power the LS50? I've read a lot of people saying it's hard to drive and I'm getting a bit worried. -
More info on B&W 685 S2 (vs KEF LS50)
Hi I'm looking for speakers and I'm considering the B&W 685 S2, KEF LS50 as CooLy_oNE, but also B&W CM5 and Dynaudio Excite X12, for my first stereo setup. I'll use a Meridian 506.20 as source and Meridian 551 integrated amp to begin with, over time I'll complement with a LP player and... -
Flat sound from TT
Hi A few months ago I bought a Meridian 506 since I can't afford to buy all the records on vinyl. Now when I'm used to it my the sound from my TT sounds flat and unengaging. I believe the TT is a grundig, got it from my dad. RIA: cambride 640p, HP amp x-can v8. Is there a easy way to...- jegarn

QED Qunex 2 - where did the bass go?
I meant burn-in. Read somewhere that the sound would change quite a bit when the cable had been in use for some hundred hours. My first impressions weren't completely true. The bass is still there, tho its quicker ant not as smeared which makes the mids more prominent. It's mostly that I... -
QED Qunex 2 - where did the bass go?
I've just got my Meridian 506 with a 1m QED Qunex 2 RCA cable. I compared the QED cable with my old ones with my TT and I'm confused. The QED cable should be many times better, at least price wise. To begin the QED removes a veil and the sound is more clear. But at the same time it...- jegarn

The Vintage Dac & CD Player List/Review Thread
I've found a meridian 506.20, linn genki for around 500$ and a MF A3.2CD for 600$. Which one do you think is the best. I'd like a CDP that is neutral, detailed and can produce "silence" in music so it feels like space (Nicolas Jaar, James Blake for example). I'd rather take good heights than...- jegarn

The Vintage Dac & CD Player List/Review Thread
My budget is around 3000SEK, approximately 500$/300£. It's hard comparing prices in SEK and USD, at least I know the Meridian is on the absolute edge of what my budget allows.- jegarn

The Vintage Dac & CD Player List/Review Thread
Excellent thread!! I've just come to the conclusion that it's not worth buying all the albums I want on vinyl since the price difference so I'm looking for a CDP. Been reading about the Meridian 506.24/507/508.24, MF A3CD and Linn Genki mainly. How do they stand compared to newer CDPs in...- jegarn

Sq from vinyl vs. digital for new relcordings
I still feel that there should be a different. Maybe it's not noticeable. Which genres do you think doesn't work with vinyl, if any? I'm looking for Crystal Castles second album and not sure if I should get the vinyl or CD. -
Sq from vinyl vs. digital for new relcordings
A couple of years ago I started to collect vinyls and I've mostly bought older releases. Recently I've been loiking at some albums that only excist on CD. That got me thinking about how todays music is recorded. Since a convertion from analog to digital or the otherway probably decreases the... -

X-can v8 problems with noise
Hi I'm having some problems with hissing from the right channel with my x-can. I just opened it and checked the tubes. If you look at it from the front the tube on the right had silvery pins and the one on the left looked a little oxidized. I tried to scrape the tips clear but it...- jegarn
