Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
I personally found that the open EL-8s were a little more neutral and forward than the LCD-3s, they were closer to the Xs which I much preferred. I still absolutely adore mine, years later. I often prefer to use them over my studio monitors for pure pleasure. Their treble response is stunning...- zambz

Tutorial: Most elegant way to run a high quality EQ on OS X
It's not quite record mode even though the button looks like it, it's more of a session that's been started. You can see the option under Control / Start Session To actually record the output to a file, you must add a RECORDED device under OUTPUTS. As long as you're using an OUTPUT...- zambz

Super easy. Just install Audio Hijack and Nova, then you'll see it available under AUDIO UNIT EFFECTS and you can simply drag it into the signal chain. Be sure to start the session to hear it in action. Have fun! zambz- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
To be honest, the LCD-Xs do have a similar character to the EL-8s but are simply more refined sounding. They are a pinch more forward but honestly just a pinch. It may simply be that you have become accustomed to brighter sounding cans. Just remember that many other high-end...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Yeah, though my favourite of the bunch (and imho the most neutral) were the LCD-Xs. The price of the LCD-4 really isn't as easy to justify imho when the LCD-X is already a world class headphone used by top mastering engineers like Bob Katz and sound just perfect, like it's hard to imagine...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Just wanted to say that almost a year into owning my open EL-8s, I still absolutely love them. Having recently gotten more back into music production, I have also started using them as an open pair of headphones for production and mixing. Make no mistake about it friends, these are...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Yeah, honestly I'm not sure. If I could find a way to do a true level-matched A/B between the MBP and Mojo, that would be rather interesting. All I know is that I enjoy the EL-8s just as much through my MBP headphone output as I do through my Mojo. The Mojo is awesome and I still would...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
I really love my Mojo with the open EL-8s, but I'm going to be brave and say that they sound just as good through my MacBook Pro audio jack. The audio interface on current Macs is awesome and supports up to 24/96.- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
I bought the travel case for my open EL-8s. It's extremely well built and I really love the materials. The design internally is a bit meh, the foam provided makes placing them inside a bit awkward. It's also a pinch too small, so you really have to be careful that the zipper doesn't hit...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Honestly, the open EL-8 is a pretty big jump from the PM-3. The main reasons are: * Faster sound, better transient response * Significantly better soundstage * Significantly better treble response But ultimately you would have to be the judge when listening to both :)- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
I can help you out here. Forget the PM-3s and the Nighthawks, neither are in the same league as the open EL-8s. The Nighthawks are honestly some of the worst open headphones I have ever heard, so much so that I thought something was wrong with the demo pair.- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Honestly, try this: 1. Notch out the 6 kHz peak with EQ (to correct it) 2. Listen to a piece of music with a very nice top end on the HD-800 and pretty much any fazored Audeze No amount of EQ could bring back the sparkle that the Audeze (or my studio monitors with ribbon tweeters)...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
<rant> Agreed re the HD800. What's the point of a great soundstage and comfort when the frequency balance is completely unmusical and just plain awful. The 6kHz peak also masks the fact that the treble on the HD-800 lacks extension and leaves a lot to be desired. People calling the HD-800...- zambz

Android phones and USB DACs
I seem to be having lots of dramas with OTG on my HTC One M8 with Chord Mojo. I have tested this with the stock HTC ROM (6.0) and the Google Play Edition ROM. The problem is that every 10 - 15 seconds, I get a pop / click which is pretty noticeable. I'm playing music with Spotify (I'm a...- zambz

Rank the Headphones that You Own.
I haven't listened to the 1.0s at any great length, but the 2.0 over-ears have treble, but they have no air (they are rolled off at probably around 14 kHz ish). After you hear any pair of Audezes, you'll see exactly what is missing about any of the Momentums (and most all other...- zambz

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)
Hey mate, I honestly haven't found the ergonomics to be that great on the EL-8. I find that they get very hot after a short period of time and the clamping force on both models is too much for me and it doesn't seem to be getting better (I've had my EL-8s for 4 months). I often take breaks...- zambz

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)
I personally found the open EL-8s a little more neutral than the LCD-2, they are a bit closer to the LCD-X which I really liked personally as I found the LCD-2Fs still a pinch too dark for me. I first heard the closed EL-8s late last year and they were a slightly pre-production model that...- zambz

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)
I completely agree, I'm making precisely the same point as the rest. I'm all for them making changes for the better and improving their technology, no doubt! But the lack of press releases and clear revision numbers is damaging to their reputation and confusing to me as a customer...- zambz

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)
Huge thank you for putting this together. I suspect that the EL-8s actually underwent a revision last year between the first batch / late prototype and the production release too due to the huge differences between my measurements and impressions vs Tyll at innerfidelity. I also noticed an...- zambz

Have Audeze attached a revision number to the updates or is it still just the EL-8? How will I know which revision I'm listening to if I visit a store?- zambz

Widening stereo image using an uncoloured stereo widening plugin
Hi guys, hope you're all well. There's a very simple technique that is used in audio processing to narrow and widen a stereo image. I used to use it all the time during production and even coded a plugin which did it too back when there were limited options. The algorithms involved are...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Thanks so much, keep us posted if you hear back from Audeze, I'm curious to know for sure whether the earpads are removable. Just one little note re EQ, parametric EQ is the only type of EQ I would ever consider using and when you use a world class digital EQ such as DMG Audio's...- zambz

Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Yeah that's true. I haven't tried the HD-700 thoroughly. My biggest problem with both of them is that I don't love the way they sound, even after EQ in the case of the HD-800). Yeah, that's what I'm thinking about, but I actually don't think that the earpads are replaceable on the...- zambz
