Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
the HD58X looks pretty interesting, and that 160$ price! But I already had one Sennheiser, so I wanted to try a planar (but I am very interested in the AKG712 too as I'd like to have a pair of headphones with great soundstage, but the sub 100€ tag price was too appetizing to resist it and I'm...- BroncoVA

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
I received today a T50RP. I always wanted to have a planar and Amazon had one at 89€ I should receive the Shure 1540 ear pads tomorrow (and some mad dogs knock off from China in a month or so). So far I love the details, totally another thing compared to my Sennheiser HD600, but I couldn't...- BroncoVA

Sony NW-A50 Series
I didn't check in the settings, mine went off while I was sitting near it and I hadn't listen to music since the night before it's the reason why I found out about that behavior. Will check later if there's a 12/24h option, 24h is fine for me.- BroncoVA

did you notice that it switches off after 24 hours in pause, or is it only mine that is doing that?- BroncoVA

The initial scan on the boot is really the only annoying thing, except for that tiny problem the nwa55 is really a great DAP. Maybe the possibility of typing a search by name, song or author would be nice but then it would be nearly perfect for 168€ :)- BroncoVA

Never bought a Sony sd card, mine is a Samsung 512gb and it was recognised without a problem. Those with 1tb could give their feedback though, it would be interesting.- BroncoVA

On the Sony site they say the nwa50 line supports up to 2 TB https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00171492 It's annoying but truly you can just pause the dap and once your screen switches off you can go for days and I just saw today that after a while in pause (more than 24 h)...- BroncoVA

I tried the EQ a Youtuber recommended : +6 at 60hz +3 at 1KHz -3 at 6.3KHz +6 at 16KHz to imitate some W shaped EQ. It's not bad: the instruments (while listening to some CAN Peel Session) seem playing more in a choral, they are more binding; with EQ=OFF the instruments are...- BroncoVA

So, i've played with my new toy and i really love it. First impression: it's really tinier than i thought, but perfect for music on the go. Until now i really don't see the benefit of ClearAudio, it distorts too much the music. I've put DSEE HX, DC Phase Linearizer and Dynamic Normalizer on...- BroncoVA

Oh please don't bother looking for your box, it's not that urgent i'll have a look into the DAP once i'll have all my 340GB and something files on the SD card Thank for your help  Edit: Double thank then i guess for checking the box  I think i'll be able to check the region only a...- BroncoVA

No, it's grey. Made in Malaysia. There's no way to know its region without going into the DOS simulator thing? I'm transferring right now on the sd card (512GB formatted in a wink) so i'm looking for any info concerning the region that i could deduce from the packaging.- BroncoVA

DAP has arrived, first of all it's really a beautiful device. You recognise right away Sony's quality materials. It's a NW-A55BM and i can't find what the letters BM are for? Is it a region? Is it capped?- BroncoVA

Sony NW-A50 Series
I'm on a Hackintosh (like a Mac, but better because cheaper :) )so i can't use Music Center (i don't use Windows on my Mac, nor do i have a Windows PC available...). I guess i'll just have to drop my music directly on my SD card, not an issue. Thanks for the tip though ,) edit: For my case i...- BroncoVA

Yeah thanks! i read that in here. I'll format on the DAP so it will surely make the Music folder during the operation (i guess). For what i've read i should then transfer my music from my computer via a card reader (faster than directly on the DAP via the Sony cable?). I just hope i'll be able...- BroncoVA

Sony NW-A50 Series
The NW-A55 should arrive on Monday. So i don't say it's the first thing i'll try (first i'll have to format my sd card, put all my music on it and do the uncap thing) but I'll definitely try the EQ once all is set (if nothing goes wrong i should be able to write about it on Tuesday or Wednesday)- BroncoVA

thank you very much! You nailed it, I thought E was for España! The tourist thing is weird but may be a smart solution that Sony implemented to avoid new restrictions like the volume cap. That's very good that a reset or update don't mess that up again, your feedback just saved me some research...- BroncoVA

I may be abusing your kindness but what made you choose the E region over the other ones? If we choose a European region is there any risk of a volume cap coming back on our device when we update Sony's software? or do that sort of surprise only come back after a factory reset? In that case...- BroncoVA

I'm still reading about the first things to do when i'll receive my a55 (disabling the volume cap and changing region) and i wondered if you followed those instructions https://jtm.gg/walkman-create-playlists/ where he says we don't have to worry about a change of the language (so according to...- BroncoVA

Well thanks for trying! Electronics can be weird but i couldn't grasp the notion of an EQ just altering the sound by being "on". You confirmed what i thought - BroncoVA

Still waiting for my NW-A55 to arrive (should be here between 12 and 24 December that lets me a lot of time to read about it...) I've read somewhere that turning the EQ on but keeping it "untouched" (without altering any frequency) makes a big improvement sound-wise. Sounds strange to me, anyone...- BroncoVA

Really interested in the a55 but what type of cable would I need to use it with my Xduoo XD-05? Has anyone already used this combination? Is there a recommended WMport to 3.5mm (for the digital in/coaxial of the Xduoo XD-05) or would I need another type of cable? Edit: Just bought a NW-A55 and...- BroncoVA

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
Thanks for the feedback! I think you have convinced me (it's what i was looking for :) ). The Cowon was my first choice but the price is steeper (352-380$ here in Italy) and what i saw about the very slow scrolling would probably get on my nerves after a while. I have a Sennheiser HD600 so i...- BroncoVA

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
Coming from a Cayin N3 (which i loved sound-wise but not when it comes to UI, impossible to read and that battery that dies after less than 2 years of a mild use...) i'm considering a NW-A45 as it's available at 126€ (140$) from Amazon Warehouse (damaged box but item as new). What's your opinion...- BroncoVA
