Up for sale is a JDS Labs Atom Amp. This is the original Atom Amp. There are some scratches on the top of the amp. The inside of the volume knob that connects to the metal shaft is broken. It's currently held together with electrical tape. It still works but is a bit loose. I would...- hduong

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
Never thought to factor in the included 4.4 balanced cable in the overall cost. Even though it probably doesn’t cause Sennheiser that much to produce, it still a min $50 value in my book. Considering the 4 pin XLR CH 650 S retails for $240.- hduong

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
I don’t find the 660s fatiguing at all. But that’s coming from someone that didn’t find the HD800 fatiguing either for most music. I listen to music at relatively low volumes so that’s maybe why.- hduong

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
I picked one of these up as well. Do you find 4.4 connector a tight fit? Need to apply a little more force than I would like to get it to click in. Wish it was shorter and more flexible as well. I also got a 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter and it's also a tight fit. Even more so. Probably going...- hduong

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...
After 9 years of enjoying my headphone system, decided to add some new gear this year. My Headphone setup is also connected to my personal/work from home computer which I recently built last Christmas. So space is at a premium. New additions are: Sennheiser HD660s Questyle CMA400i Balanced...- hduong

Has anyone heard of Periapt cables?
Cables arrived today. Build quality is excellent. I was a bit worried the cable may be too stiff but that's not the case. Microphonics is not any worse then the cables that came with my HD 660s or Denon AH-D600. The AH-D600 cable has fabric sleeving as well.- hduong

New Questyle CMA400i
My balanced cables arrived for the HD800. Can't really notice much difference between xlr balanced vs SE output base on a few songs tested with. They both sounded good. The only thing I can say for sure is the power output is higher. The volume knob is now at 9 instead of 10 o'clock at...- hduong

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
Purchased these a couple weeks ago to compliment my HD 800. Wanted something warmer and less analytical. The HD 800 can be unforgiving on certain recordings. I had the HD 650 9 years ago but sold it after purchasing the HD 800. I found the HD 650 too dark for my liking. This doesn't seem to...- hduong

JDS Labs ATOM Amp
I noticed noise when using USB to connect computer to DAC. Noise disappeared when connected using optical. Atom sounds better now. Noise is not present on the Violectric HPA 200 and the Questyle DAC's built in HPA though. They must have some built in noise filtering the Atom doesn't. It's...- hduong

New Questyle CMA400i
Good to know. I definitely don't need the extra power. I listen to music between 9 and 10 o'clock 90% of the time. Max is 11 o'clock. This is on the lowest gain setting on all 3 of my amps with the HD800. My other HPs even lower.- hduong

New Questyle CMA400i
Nice pickup. I was debating whether to get the CMA Twelve instead. The dealer stated it was a noticeable step up in sound quality to the CMA400i. The twelve master must bring the sound up another notches.- hduong

Your “wow” headphones
Grado SR60 was the first headphone that started me on this hobby. HD800 were my first WOW headphone. They are still my main one 9 years later. My next higher end headphone purchase will be to supplement the HD800 with a different sound. Maybe something warmer.- hduong

New Questyle CMA400i
Got one of these 2 weeks ago to replace an Audiolab M-DAC that is now being used in the living room stereo system. Wanted a DAC that could do 24/192 and DSD over USB. The M-DAC was limited to 24/96 on the USB connection. I was debating between this and the topping D70x Pro. Got this one...- hduong

Has anyone heard of Periapt cables?
Just purchased a balanced cabled for my HD800. Price and build quality seem good. Didn't feel like spending more than $150 for aftermarket cables. Hopefully no microphonics.- hduong

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Just got the Geekria lambskin pads to replace the stock ones that were worn out. They are not as comfy as the stock ones as there is more pressure being applied. But that better for me as the old ones were a bit loose. Bass seemed improved. Slight more of it that is. Everything else seemed...- hduong

JDS Labs ATOM Amp
I bought the Atom to use mainly as a pre-amp for my powered PC speakers that has the volume control on the back. It's replacing a broken Audio-GD C-2 headphone amp/pre-amp. I briefly tested out the headphone amp. It has plenty of power for the price. No problems powering my HD800. The sound...- hduong

Anyone find it ironic that the HD800s have become one of the "value" flagship headphones on the market?
I wonder how much of that $4000 is put into RD as the sales volume isn't that high. I still can't believe I bought a $1400 pair of headphones in the HD800.- hduong

Moving to a new level of headphone
An amp for the HD598 is not required to get it to play loud. But a amp should result in better sound quality. I have a FIIO E7 and not very impress with it. It sounds thin to me.- hduong

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
I briefly listened to a HE-500 on a Bryston HPA-1 amp. Didn't wow me as much as I thought. Sounded a little dry to me. It was too heavy for my liking as well.- hduong

New Audiolab DAC
Not sure if I'm a big believer in power cables. But I do have a big beefy cable for my V200. Cost about $125 on clearance. Regular was suppose to be $250. I'm just using the supplied $5 cable that came with the MCRU PS at the moment.- hduong
