The Apple diyMod: My Take on the Famous iMod [56k killer] Featuring 3G, 4G, 5G and nano 1G!
You should solder the wire on the left to the other side of the cap, like the one on the right (check out the picture on the first post of this thread). The static sound is probably clipping due to the sensitivity of of the laptop's sound card.- darkfury18

help trouble shooting an Ipod....
Well, best bet would be to check out the click wheel and the cable and go from there. When it turns on after you toggle the hold switch, does it load up normally (to the menu screen)? If it does, the HD is probably fine.- darkfury18

Linksys Router won't hard reset?
Update: Nevermind.. switching back to DDWRT. Had to manually renew the DCHP lease twice in one day. Never had to with the default Linksys firmware or DDWRT before.- darkfury18

Linksys Router won't hard reset?
Just made the the switch, it's pretty nice. The graphs are nice and it does have everything I need. Not having to reboot every time is a definite plus, but I don't think DD-WRT was any less responsive.- darkfury18

Ipod mini flash card replacement question
Most will work. I haven't heard anyone having trouble with A-Data so that's one I would recommend. You don't need a high speed card unless you intend on changing the songs on the your ipod often. The read speed of the low speed card doesn't affect the performance of the ipod, but updating the...- darkfury18

Confused...Is ipod + LOD = Good?
Hmm .. I don't know what's going on then... cause on the nano, they don't sound the same. Does anyone in the US have a 5G and want to contribute? Cause in the other thread, it was also a UK ipod where the HP/LOD sounded the same. Quote: Originally Posted by BluePhone bangraman, I...- darkfury18

Confused...Is ipod + LOD = Good?
I made both the the LOD and the interconnect using Jupiter 26awg cryo wire, so I'm fairly sure it's not the cable. The clipping/distortion is caused by the internal amplifier getting saturated. Do you even have an ipod to back up what you're saying? Right now you're just taking the word of...- darkfury18

Is it possible to fix the bass rolloff on iPod Mini HP out?
Check out the diyMod thread. I don't have a mini to check it out, but those caps are typically near where the caps for the line out in the diyMod are, and are physically bigger. If you have a multimeter, do a resistance test between the HP out and the caps (both sides), the resistance should be...- darkfury18

help with the mini^3
Since the amp does work when it's plugged in, there shouldn't be any problems with U2. holland brings up a good point, it could also be D4. Radioshack has these guys, 1N4742A 1-Watt Zener Diode.- darkfury18

help with the mini^3
The 80R is fine since those two pins are connected by R8 (75R). Is this with or without the battery in place? If it's without the battery, then U1 is dead.- darkfury18

help with the mini^3
The charging circuit is pretty simple, so the only things I could think of that could go wrong are that U1 is dead or something may be wrong with the battery. Just as a sanity check, I'd do a continuity check between the pins of U1, D1 and R8 to where ever they're suppose to be connected make...- darkfury18
