Selling my AKG K240 Sextetts. Despite the older-style headband these are a Late Production model with the white passive radiators. They are in good condition (the only cosmetic issue I saw were some light scratches on the silver AKG badge) but they are in need of new elastics. The inner foam...- CFabian

Selling my ATH-M9X. This is a former TOTL headphone from the second iteration of Audio Technica's M-series, a spot presently claimed by the M70x. The M9X was released in 1990 and production ended sometime in the late 90s. These are quite difficult to find now and it is harder still to find them...- CFabian

Selling my ATH-SX1. These have seen a lot of use on my end, serving as my laptop headphones for a number of years. There is considerable wear to the headband padding and a spot on the bottom of the headband where the internal foam is poking out a little bit. The earpads were replaced recently...- CFabian

Selling my DR-6Ms. These are in excellent condition, with no discernable issues. These weigh 350g and the build quality is exceptional for an on-ear headphone (the clamping force is a bit high though). The DR-6M was first produced in the late 1970s and production ended in 1980. They don't really...- CFabian

Selling my MSR7NCs. These are the noise cancelling version of the MSR7. I haven't heard the standard MSR7 or MSR7B to compare them, but judging by the impressions and frequency charts I've seen on those I'd say that they should sound pretty similar to each other. Bright sounding, clear, and...- CFabian

Selling my K340s. I've been the owner of these for six years. These have no noticeable cosmetic issues aside from some scrapes on the edges of the earcups (the rubber headband also looks a little crooked, but it straightens out just fine once it is on your head). The elastics on these wore out...- CFabian

Selling my K701s. These are an early production model with a fairly low serial number (#2887). The condition of the headphone is good, elastics are still ok. There is some discoloration on the pads (this was present when I received them and seems to be pretty common with the K701's pads for...- CFabian

Selling my DT150s. These are the 250 Ohm version. They are in good condition with only some minor wear to the pleather earpads and headband padding, both are still perfectly usable. Note that the cable terminates with a 1/8" plug and I no longer have the 1/4" adapter for these. Asking price...- CFabian

Selling my AD2000s. These are in good condition overall, the only wear I see is some small white blemishes on the right cup (see the second picture). Includes the original 1/4" adapter. (I want to have my cake and eat it too) Closed vs. Open - Advice for an owner of Denon1000, AKGk702, and VSonic GR07 IEMs
The Kenwood KH-K1000 is worth considering. It's a closed headphone with a large soundstage and strong bass that also sounds quite transparent. I've owned the D1001 and the Q701 and the Kenwoods basically sound like a combination of those two headphones with the strong points of both.- CFabian

Puzzling experience with second-hand Koss TD/80... ¿tough luck or really crapty cans?
I've heard the TD/80 a couple of times (a music store nearby has them plugged into terminals to let you sample songs). I'd say your description of their sound is pretty close to what I heard from them -- mostly lows, with a noticeable dip in the midrange. Koss makes some excellent budget...- CFabian

Anyone compare Beyer DT250 250ohm to Sony CD900st?
I'm curious as well, having never heard the DT250. I have owned the CD900ST for years, however, and I also once owned the DT531, an open headphone which has been described by some as sounding like a DT250 but airier and with a wider soundstage. Briefly, the differences with the CD900ST and the...- CFabian

Which come closer to AKG K 240 DF?
Aside from having a bit more bass out of my setup the Q701 has a pretty similar tonal balance to the (late-production) K240DF I used to own. Or just follow GREQ's suggestion and track down a used K240DF, they can often be found on ebay or elsewhere.- CFabian

AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition
I'm curious, do the K702 ANV's sound more forward in the lower midrange than the Q701? The Q701's midrange was a bit laid back in this area, a problem I found was further emphasized by their 2khz bump. This was my major nitpick with the Q701, more so than their slightly lean bass, and the reason...- CFabian

Modern-day equivalent to K501's?
Yeah, the CD900ST is fuller sounding with more bass emphasis than the K501. The CD900ST has a small dip around 2-4khz whereas for the K501 this is the part of the midrange that sounds the most prominent. In my case I preferred the sound of the Sony, but technically the K501 is the more capable...- CFabian

Need some help with AKG K140, K140s and their variants
I personally only know of two versions, if yours has the vents on the metal cups then it should be the second version that was released (the earlier pairs do not have these vents, but are still classified as open headphones). I cannot recall any discussion about variances in the drivers used...- CFabian

Closed equivalent to the HD650s
The Kenwood KH-K1000 is a good candidate. The mids on the HD650 sound more natural, but the Kenwoods retain the smooth and slightly dark sound signature the Senns are known for. A (unmodded) Sony CD1700 will get you even closer to the sound of the HD650, but unfortunately it is rare for them to...- CFabian

[ask] Is the AKG K240 Sextett still desirable?
While their soundstage will not blow you away I'd still take a Sextett over the AD700 anyday. The Sextetts do image well and sound more natural than the AD700 with a heftier lower midrange and bottom end.- CFabian

Which sounds closer to esw9? W3000 anv, W5000 or W1000X?
None of the W-Series headphones you mentioned sound like an ESW9. The W10VTG or W100 would get you closest to the sound you are looking for but they are both somewhat rare. For a full-size headphone that's easier to find but less colored than the ATs (albeit with a similarly enjoyable midrange)...- CFabian
