Selling my ATH-M9X. This is a former TOTL headphone from the second iteration of Audio Technica's M-series, a spot presently claimed by the M70x. The M9X was released in 1990 and production ended sometime in the late 90s. These are quite difficult to find now and it is harder still to find them in decent condition. Like most modern Audio Technica headphones these are fairly easy to drive and I enjoy the M9X with both tube and SS amps. The tuning is quite different from other ATs though, and I'd happily take them over any modern M-series headphone I've heard. These have a sort of raw analog quality to their sound that reminds me most strongly of the Pioneer Monitor 10, which the M9X sounds and feels like a somewhat more capable and comfortable version of (although imaging on the M9X is not as good IMO).

The pleather covering the earpads is very noticeably cracking, but the pads still have some plushness left and haven't flattened out completely. They are still usuable and I would think that finding a compatible third party pad replacement for these should not be too dificult. There is some wear and small scratches on the earcups, as well as a piece of tape(?) covering the top part of the left earcup (this is visible in the second picture - I'm not sure what it is covering if anything, but it has not bothered me so I just left it in place). I'd like to get $150 for these although I would consider a trade for another rare AT headphone of similar value such as the A100Ti or the AD10.
