Looking for headphones that meet my criteria. Also what EXACTLY makes closed-back headphones better for audio monitoring?
Closed-backs are better for tracking, not monitoring. Usually when a musician or vocalist is being recorded they will be singing or play along to what they heard in their headphones, or atleast a click track. If they were open they would be picked up through the mics. Open will almost always...- TsukiNick

How could I give line level signals a tube sound?
Basically I want to be able to have some sort of box that I could use to make any solid-state amp into a tube amplifier. Hopefully that works with line level signals so I do not have to attenuate the signals. And if I could use it with RCA and Balanced TRS (It would be nice for any recording I...- TsukiNick

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Yeah, can't even use the id3 tags to navigate, got to use folder view. I have roughly 7000 songs, every album is the full album. And I use a split similar to yours. And as a side note, when the ---- are they going to add crossfeed. Even a rock boxed clip can do it. Does fiio just need to give...- TsukiNick

Review by 'TsukiNick' on item 'Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6'
First thing you'll notice is a very elegant design, brushed aluminum and nice LEDs for it's input/output displays. The unit has amazing build quality for something of this price, it's got some weight to it and the USB connector fits very snug and the unit has nice tolerances all around. Top...- TsukiNick

SONY NW-ZX100
I think it's probably just best to buy one of those giant screen protectors for iPad or larger devices and cut to size so you can use it with multiple devices and if you mess up just reapply a new one.- TsukiNick

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
I find the name of the headphone pretty annoying. I'll have to say I have a Sennheiser HD800, instead of the sometimes used I own a pair of HD800s. Even doing a google search for HD800S is a little elusive. Yeah did anyone actually buy their HD800 at MSRP? Hell I bought mine with an...- TsukiNick

SONY NW-ZX100
What are your guys' thoughts on Sony's DSP effects I actually find ClearAudio+ pretty fun for certain headphones and genres. Too bad it doesn't go through OTG DACs. It seems to be one of the best automatic EQs I've ever used and I tend not to EQ unless necessary but it's fun sometimes.- TsukiNick

Android phones and USB DACs
For all you guys trying to power your device while using USB OTG why not look into those wireless charging adapters. I've had a little experience trying to get MHL cables that provide power to the device but the draw is too high and just one microusb port doesn't seem to do it. So for my...- TsukiNick

Android phones and USB DACs
Weird issue: Dragonfly 1.2 plugged into the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet (Which runs Android 4.4.4) doesn't play at line level volume even when Hi-Res Audio Via USB DAC is selected, I can get line level volume ranges with my FiiO X3 plugged in with OTG without problems but with the Dragonfly I have to...- TsukiNick

SONY NW-ZX100
So how much is the NX-ZX100 and does it have some sort of line-out? Or is using an amp sort of defeating the purpose of it. Later on I'll decide between getting a new FiiO (X3 is annoying to navigate through, I have to make folders like (A-G, G-L etc) just to navigate through it easier. I wish...- TsukiNick

Schiit Magni Headphone Amplifier
Btw for attenuation I use a Schiit SYS to lower the volume and switch between two sources, I wonder if the internals of the Magni are even meant to work with 2Vrms sources. I sold my Modi which is a 1.5Vrms source IIRC and replaced with a Dragonfly 1.2 (I needed something portable at the time)...- TsukiNick

O2 AMP + ODAC
Do you guys think the O2 or the Magni is a better value for the money? The magni has more power although I'd never really push it past 11 o'clock unless I was listening to some poorly leveled video on youtube. I'll probably get the O2 for $70 or I might just spend extra and get a Magni 2. I...- TsukiNick

Little Dot Mk ii as a Pre Amp
I used my Little Dot a pre-amp (no it's not a redundancy as all preamps change the level of the sound) for my Q701s because the Little Dot sucked at driving the low impedance low sensitivity load. Set it to low gain and check for clipping of the input for the second amplifier. Also you...- TsukiNick

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Does anyone get this issue with the latest firmware? -When selecting an album from an Artist with over 6 albums, selecting the bottom album views all tracks from all albums instead of just that album, you have to scroll down more to select a certain album. How do I rip a 2 disc CD as one Album in DB Power Amp?
Best tag editor is Mp3tag. I usually automatically set the tags to keep adding on for the second disk, so if the first disc had 13 tracks CD twos tracks will start at 14. It just makes it more compatible for other devices.- TsukiNick

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
I wish Sennheiser used Mini-XLR instead of their weird connectors. It would be so much more rugged and I could use one cable for multiple headphones. Does anyone know if they make a female HD800 connector for attaching to a cable. Like let's say I wanted to use the HD800 cable with my...- TsukiNick

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
Does anyone else feel the LCD-2 yoke rods give too much while wearing them? The headphones feel great with 3 notches visible under the R/L but if I wear them they usually seem to go to 4 notches or so on one ear or the other which makes them feel way too loose. And I can't imagine anyone...- TsukiNick
